The Knicks knew what they were getting, you saw Minny get Rudy because of KATs defense so I don't get the big surprise here.

We traded Randles turnovers for KATs stupid fouls. We will get Giannis watch.

OG, Bridges, Mitch, Duce. For Giannis, Dame. Works in Trade Machine. Sign Bruce Brown.

PG- Brunson/Dame
SG-Brown
SF-Hart
PF-Giannis
C-Towns

This is one of the few scenarios where if they traded for Giannis it would be a bad trade. Dame is a top five bad contract in the league. And an argument could be made that it is the number one worst contract in the league.

I know KAT is who he is but you Hope that these players actually learn something over the years. Dude is making max money. Everyone and their mother tell him every year how talented he is and what he needs to do to take the next step. Does he really not care or there is something else going?

I think this is what it boils down to.

Karl is a great guy. But his mental errors on defense are a legit issue.

He plays the game like how people drive when they're on their phone

He’s been in the league for a while, playing for multiple coaches including Thibs twice. I doubt that he ever get it.

This is not the article that has really meaty quotes. It’s more of a “some dude or dudes leaked stuff to a reporter instead of addressing it” type of article. It’s kind of concerning tbh.

Don't think he wants to leave. Forgetting the effects of their combined defense, I wish they had more chemistry in a two man game. Specifically PnR. Maybe a new coach could bring that out

No coach is going to help KAT “get it”. Like when you have your own teammates frustrated with you for blown coverages and you had player only meetings to address the issues and teammates were shown frustrated with you on the bench, it’s pretty clear that whatever you are doing wrong has been brought to your attention over and over again. And it’s not just this season but for your career you’ve been a bad defender. It’s just fantasy to think some coach somewhere is just going to help him “get it”. He is who he is. He’s going to be 30 next season. You either accept it for what it is or move on from him but there is no fixing his defense.

Why would any team trade anything good for a 1 way 30 year old center making $53/$57/$60 million next 3 years? Just gibberish to think otherwise. We traded a neutral value Randle who was at least expiring this Summer and a roleplayer on a sane contract in Donte for KAT. He's older, and just confirmed his problems are his.

We have 1 positive value contract, Brunson. Trade him. Tank in the 1 year we have our pick for the next half decade.

Didn't we just do a version of this the past 30 years?

Seems like KAT is to Defense as Ben Simmons is to Offense. :noway:

There's physical things that make his defense weak. Balance, center of gravity, lateral movement, reaction time. He gets faked off his feet, doesn't have the knack of blocking shots, doesn't stop drives.

There's all that, bad enough. Then you add in the stupid reach-ins, flailing arms, pushes on shooters, moving screens, unnecessary offensive fouls when he drives. So it's mental as well as physical.

Yet he's so big, and talented when he gets it going on offense. Very frustrating.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.
