It's because some people still haven't gotten over LeBron not coming to NY in 2010 and the only way they can get back at him is by creating fictional scenarios in their heads and then rejecting him

I explained this last time. Dudes are just overly emotional for some reason.

Has zero to do with that.

Lebron is an egomaniac diva and a soft douchebag. That’s not the type of person we need in our locker room at this time.

Agreed...kinda lose lose situation.Imagine we actually win a chip with him. The narrative would be that he was our savior...when in reality every chip he won was because a teammate bailed his scary ass out

I’ve been on this board for 20 years and suffered a lot.

The idea that James would join this team for his retirement run and possibly push us over the top for a chip is a media spin that would be hard to hear for the next 20..

He would ride that win right to the Goat title and while I would gladly take the chip I’ve always thought it wouldn’t feel right. It would be like wifing the hot girl that put on weight from HS after she curved you, right when your career starts taking off..

If it was a buyout and he comes here.. yes I would sign him with a blink of an eye.

If it was trading 3 rotational pieces.. I would have a hard time thinking we can win this way. Last year shows that we need depth or a coach that plays their depth.

BTW, if y'all gatekeeping on who should not be on the Knicks because of your personal feelings, I need to ask of your age. There are some fans that has never seen a title in NYC and they are about to retire. That's a fcked up feeling to be a Knicks fan that you are okay with a purity ring then winning one. We're not the Celtics and Lakers to be picking and choosing which ring weighs more. FCK THAT, I just want a fcking title in this town IN MY LIFETIME.

I want a 3rd title in my lifetime. Those first two have burned within me all these years - much more than pining for a lost first love. LOL

F@ck that....we can get that ring without being Lebron's bandwagon bail out plan. I'm a Knickfan first, if all I cared about was rings I would just pick the favorites (like OKC ) and ride with that team. Or I would root for non competitive ring chasers like Lebron to team up with Jokic and root for the Nuggets.

I do not want him on the team to advance his BS brand, and steal credit from the players that built the team up to where it is, who want the big shot, who play defense.... That said from a basketball point of view...it could sense if he's bought out. As long as he doesn't play is usual ego games, coach killing tactics, and fake political stances.

A guy like Giannis, sure, he's a competitor through and through...a great fit as a Knick imo

I don't care if we trade OG and Mitch for LeBron, Knicks win the championship and LeBron is the Finals MVP

I would be thrilled, don't care if it mostly just advances his brand. With how hard it is for any NBA franchise to win a championship, it would totally be worth it

I would support whatever it takes for the Knicks to win a chip, if LeBron could do it, sure. it’d be pretty cool to watch it happen. But I just don’t think he can, Father Time has to step in at some point and he’d probably just come here soak up the spotlight and mail it in on the court. One last hoodwink to end his career. So personally I’d pass

I've disliked Lebron most of his career. Self-anointing, super-teamer, flopper and coach killer. I've seen him in a maid costume and can't unsee it. I hate that youngins think he should be in the goat conversation. Just let him go away.

Most importantly, all of our players are to make our team better. I suspect whatever Lebron does, it's to burnish his image for posterity, and the team is 2nd. That's not what I want.

Some people are just too emotional, they can't think logically

With that being said, it doesn't make any sense to trade for LeBron due to his age, defensive issues, and contract size. It only makes sense if he's bought out and signs for the minimum

But he's not being bought out and signing for the minimum, so it's a moot point.

Until today, I thought the same as you about signing him for the minimum. Now I think there is a tremendous gravity to being such a great all-time player, and a team could generate a lot of bad feelings if he's not shown proper respect in playing him. That means he might play over younger players who could contribute more to a given situation. This could adversely affect team chemistry. The upside is we'd be slightly better for the year, but the downside is the disruptive effects on team chemistry could hurt us for a longer period of time. We need all of our guys learn how to best contribute to our play on both sides of the ball and to grow and much as possible in their own abilities. Lebron wouldn't necessarily help that.

Yeah some people are too stupid to understand this no matter how many times they’re told. Just keep repeating the ridiculous 2010 narrative as if that’s the reason millions of NBA fans can’t stand him

Love the post

Goat conversation is so strange. In cricket you can't have it without Bradman. In basketball we have to put Mikan, Russell and Chamberlain in a museum. For me aorn the goat should be somewhere in Kareem, MJ and Jokic. But, I mean, Jokic is going to retire in a couple of years and 25 years down the track people will think we are sad old timers with no idea and some rando with one title can't ever be in that conversation

Return to New York Knicks
