We sure about that? Maybe if we picked DSJ he goes to DAL, but if we had picked someone else IE Monk, do we know for sure they pick Frank over DSJ?

Of course we don't know for sure. But they scouted him heavily. Smoke, fire.

DSJ stuff is a little funny. He has a lot of attributes of guys who look good in some games and draw attention because they can do some big things, but who don't change your team much.

And the injury is part of the profile. The lower ceiling profile.

We scouted everyone too. Turns out it didn't matter. PJax got who he wanted for the triangle.

Here's a description from Cuban about draft night

"Mark said, 'OK, we're going to give Woj a pump fake,' " the staffer said. "Then he said, 'No one touches their phones or they're fired.' Coming from The Boss, you take it seriously."

Naturally, several of the phones rang and buzzed and vibrated with the usual draft night activity. Who knows? Maybe LeBron James' agent called the Mavericks during that interlude to work out a path for James to come to Dallas and be closer to his beloved Cowboys. OK, so that probably didn't happen, but the Mavericks definitely missed some calls and texts.

That was of no matter to Cuban. He said that when Wojnarowski tweeted that the Knicks were going to select Frank Ntilikina at No. 8, several staff members wanted to high-five because that ostensibly meant Dallas would get its man, Smith.
"I'm like, 'No,' " Cuban said. "Just because it's reported doesn't mean it's true. I've been in crazier situations.

"So we're waiting and waiting. When Adam Silver walks out, I'm like, 'OK.'"

When Silver announced the Knicks had indeed picked Ntilikina, that's when the room erupted in chest bumps and, according to coach Rick Carlisle, "thunderous applause."

Not because the Mavs had thwarted ol' Woj, though that certainly was an accomplishment in itself. It was because they got the guy they wanted all along.

So they got their man. Are we supposed to care? He didn't pick Dirk, he screwed up the Nash situation badly, and has picked and paid a bunch of middling players.

Who cares who he cheers for. The guy is not a sage lol.

I think they legit did want smith all along and indeed we're excited to scoop him up, however I think we"ll have the last laugh.

I feel frank evolves into a player who may not put up big numbers but clearly makes the team better when he"s on the floor while dsj puts up the big numbers but it doesn't exactly result in "winning basketball" but I could be wrong he showed some really good things in SUmmer league a lot of things I was looking for from him he delivererd. He showed promise with defense, showed some leadership and was hitting shots.

Time will tell though I still feel frank has the better career

DSjr...we will not be able to contain his attitude with our softie coach and all. Rick will discipline him. I say both Knicks and Mavs got the players that would suit them.

Who did you want picked?

Doesn't matter who because he was gonna suck anyway, 8th pick always sucks according to your "data".

I wanted Frank. I like swinging for the fences, let's get a potential game changer.

Odds are he won't be if we look at historical drafts from that range but I hope we smash that trend.

was wondering the same thing. Sure he needs to get stronger but, I liked what I saw from his as a Rook. Was actually better than I thought and I like that Kuz will at least take it to the rim and try to dunk on someone.

Except he has been playing pro basketball for 10+ years, many Olympic games, European championships, and World Cup included.

He's anything but a rookie.

Will you also call Miloš Teodosič a rookie although he's 30 already?

He was a rookie in that he needed to adjust somewhat to the NBA game and that takes a year. Not for every player, and to what degree is individually based.

Way I see it, he was signed to be a guy who comes off the bench and can contribute some. I've said this a bunch before, but guys off the bench, most of them do 1 thing well or maybe they are all around skilled but not that great because otherwise they'd be a starter. Obviously supersub/borderline starters excluded, which there aren't that many or are rarer than the typical backup.

Kuz is more of the all around guy. Can hit the outside shots, drive some, get out in transition, cuts well and understands picks etc, moves the ball. Jackson bashing and triangle bashing aside, he was looking for a ball sharing ball moving identity and Kuz is the sort of bench player that fit that. And those are the same things that Mills\Perry talked about wanting. Most good teams do. Kuz won't be great and there is a chance that during this next season he'll suck too and then it was a FA signing that didn't pan, but I think he'll look better. He looked good in some games last year, so-so in others and straight ass sometimes. Price was right in cap space and cost in terms of picks/players - none.
