this is sad but as a hornets fan, i pass on Okafor for Amare.

Okafor 2 years left at about 25 million.

Amare 3 years left at about 65 million?

so its basically okafor and the free agent we could acquire with the 10 million a year for Amare.

Amar'e probably has more value to us as a player than the slim pickings we'd get back in return for his contract.

Chuck Hayes 30x has more value than Amare
Nene has 90999x more value than Amare
Lee 20x has more value than Amare
Boozer 10x has more value than Amare
Scola has 40x more value than Amare

need i keep going?

All of these guys could be moved this summer, and all of them may/would be interested in taking back Amare.

Dragic + Amare?
Irving + Amare?
Wall + Amare?
Curry + Amare?
Rose + Amare?

they would want him because he's a legit #2.

All of those guys mentioned work better next to Melo than Amare does. All of them bring multiple skillsets to the table when they dont score.

Amare is worthless when he doesnt score.

You guys are bugging saying trade Amare for guys like Maggette & garbage. I would only trade Amare for another starting PF. If we trade Amare for a non-PF player who do you expect to play PF?
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

Stop the Amare hate.

Take into consideration that:
1) he doesn't fit in a melo offensive system
2) he was rusty as hell and had no legs in the first half after not playing all off-season
3) it was a compressed season
4) he lost his brother mid season
5) suffered late season back injury

I don't think you can evaluate him based on these circumstances.

Having said that, it might be better for the Knicks and Amare if he got traded but only if it is for something that fits the team better. The problem isn't that he's done and needs to be dumped. Its that playing off of Melo doesn't make him nearly as effective. I found it just as ridiculous when folks were talking about dumping Melo just cause he was not playing well in the D'Antoni system.

ISO Melo is no excuse for coming up with 6.5 rebounds per game against Miami.

Don't kid yourself. Melo or not, Amare sucks.

What about Amare for Elton Brand straight up. With his expiring deal you can possibly make a run at FA like Dwight or Josh Smith the next offseason. Hes still a decent starter, and actually puts in effort on defense. His leadership is a big reason why the Sixers were successful this season.

What is the difference between Eddy Curry and Amar'e other than passion and weight?

Both are gifted offensively, both can't rebound nor could they defend.

When Curry was playing well, he was better than Amare was this year. But the rest of his career is a black hole.

Amare sucked this year and was so-so last year after Melo arrived. He hasn't fallen off the cliff like Eddy did, but he sure needs to right his ship next season or his career will be in a serious downtrend.

I am being serious. Eddy Curry was a gifted low post player but he couldn't defend nor rebound. Are you telling me Amar'e could defend and rebound? So what is it? both players have huge holes in their game... I understand Amar'e's passion compare to Eddy's lack of anything but both just have holes that we need to fix.

Curry got paid and got lazy, and stayed injured due to being too lazy to keep himself in shape.

Plus he was mentally dumb.

Comparing him to Amare just because of defense and rebounding is poor.

Thank you. I am not comparing both careers. Amar'e has a huge advantage over that nor am I saying that Amar'e will fall into a deep black hole.

During Eddy's career, we had problems with his rebounding and defense. We feel that he didn't put any energy on the boards and defense. And now, Amar'e's holes are noticeable to get that type of comparison. So why not?
