It's definitely not Rose...he was traded here...he had no choice in coming here

it's probably Lee...he was convinced by Noah to come here and it was reported that he had numerous teams after him, he had options

Don't forget Jennings.. he was low-key bashing Melo in his tweets and how he looks after Melo even makes this shot:

Why? Jennings had said that Iso must stop, where Melo said that they need to keep iso-ing. Then earlier this season he was complaining about "someone" should be making better choices which was following after some bad Melo games. And Jennings strikes me as a dude who doesn't shy away from Melos authority and will say his mind no matter what.

Even when we win, it's mostly by single digits and there isn't a killer instinct in this team at all!!!! Blow it up!!!!! Over 30 years a fan and it's the same ol sh*t!

NFL's incentives-based contract system must the be closest to that kind of ideals

Yeah, I'm down for that, none of these guys deserve "guarantee" anything!!!!

Lance **** Thomas and Sasha Vujasuck ruined everything. The proof is in the pudding. Win loss record with and with out is startlingly obvious. STOP PLAYING THEM.

I am ready to blow it up but whatever. This can't be ignored. The team fell apart as soon as Lance came back and the rotations changed. Then Sasha was inserted in the STARTING LINEUP WHILE BAKER WAS SENT DOWN TO THE D LEAGUE? GTFOH!

JEFF! WAKE UP! STOP PLAYING THESE BUMS!

Really? His contract is up there with Noah's as being one of the worst in the league.

I don't recall Dantoni being in jeopardy at any point prior to 2010. He was hired to keep the team exciting and was known as a players coach since he had Olympic connections. Folks were shocked amare was willing to come here. Didn't care for dantoni, but I won't make up stories either.

This is good, no more ignoring the facts! Time to put up or get shipped out!!!! I'd rather watch a bunch of young prospects along with KP learn the hard way then dominate!!! It's so hard to be mad at your favorite team and watch every game deep down inside hoping for a win but knowing they will likely loose, then when they loose.......you get upset like you didn't believe they would loose!! Ugh!!!

It's like fighting with your girlfriend for so long, then you finally have enough so you break up with her, then you're the most miserable person on earth because you want her back despite the crap you have to put up with!!!! :noway:  :nonono:  :banghead:

D'Antoni, for all his faults, is probably the best coach we have had in a long time. Look at the crap that came before him: Don Chaney and Isiah Thomas. Then look at the aftermath: Mike Woodson, Derek Fisher, Kurt Rambis and poor man's D'Antoni in Jeff Hornacek.

D'Antoni is making it work with Harden. Unsurprisingly he did not make it work with 2 ball dominant players like Kobe and Melo.

It was a good game for me to practice my F chord during. Didn't have to pay much attention.

The franchise has run a number of good coaches out of here. The one in particular that confuses me is Larry Brown. I vaguely remember posters going ape over how Larry Brown was a bad coach. :-?

Mike Breen has been doing it since he arrived with D'antoni as the coach. Now he and Clyde have been calling him out every game, whether it be from him taking unnecessary shots, or by shooting over double-teams and sometimes triple-teams.

You don't have to blame the failures in the last few years on Melo as a predicate to thinking him being traded is best for the franchise. I love Melo and think he could play well in a system where he is a power forward (he should play pf here) and would personally like to see him on the Clippers. That said, the league is tilted so heavily toward Cleveland and Golden State and that will not wane for another 2-3 years. Further, we have one of the top three prospects in the Nba. The smart move is to spend those 2-3 years drafting high and developing good role players. That is the reason i wouldnt mind a Melo deal, not because he is some cancer.

Excellent piece. This team's collective defensive awareness is woefully low.

We're trying to defend with 4 guys on the floor.
Melo let his matchup the get hot. His defensive woes let opponent teams boost confidence.
When the leader of the team dont put effort on defense everyone start to act like him. All defensive intensity goes down with Melo.

I wanted to tank this year. Melo's presence eliminated that chance. And now he's ruining the team again.
I would trade him for a lottery pick at this point. He's not top 10 SF in offense and defensively he play like calderon.

Guys like Melo when rose never played defense in their "primes", so expecting them to now was stupid. At least you have hope for KP to develop into at least an above average defender

The problem I have with Melo is when we were 4 games above .500 and looking like top 3 teams in the East, he was playing what I call "engaged" and "on a mission" and he would do whatever it took to win, whether shooting 20 times or passing 20 times.

But 10 games later, he seems to check out, like he already gave up on the team when 10 games ago he was "on a mission".

The team may be in a funk but so many playoffs teams struggle during the course of a season and they work it out and make noise in the playoffs. Usually the problems can be righted with a few tweaks and adjustments.

Instead of working on righting the course, he seems to check out.

I was a Nugget fan during all of Melo's years there, and I can say 100% that the only season Melo was on a mission consistently for a full season was when they traded for Billups in 2008-09 and ended up making it to WCF.

(btw, I became a Knicks fan because of Lin, not because I followed Melo here)

The problem I have with Melo as a player during his career is he NEVER seems to have a mission for winning a championship, like it is not on his agenda and he seems to have something better to do.

You see championship players like Wade, LeBron, Dirk, Duncan, KG, they seemed to have a sense of mission, they displayed it with their high level of engagement, honest body language/ signals which are almost impossible to fake. They seem to play every possession on both ends with a purpose.

Melo doesn't have it. Too often he seems like he has something else on his mind, like his off court activities (I learned that he has started off the court business endeavors which he takes seriously and he really takes a pride in being a businessman instead of handing it over to his financial team/ manager). The shots that he takes thesedays are like just turnaround heaves that "have a 35-40% chance of going in" but he can't care less whether it was a good shot for the team, as long as he has done playing and "earning" those cheques and playing the regular season games.

Having been a close observer of Melo since his rookie season, I learn that he NEEDS someone who has strong leadership qualities next to him who would take that leadership "pressure" off him and allow him to be "himself". That's why when Billups first came to Nuggets he was able to immediately lock in for the course of a full season. It's why he thrived on Olympics teams, having Coach K, Pop, LeBron and all the strong leaders around him to allow him to be who he is.

---

I think he would only accept a trade to a team to Cavs where he could play with LeBron (strong leader) and have a chance for a championship, or to a team like Clips to play for Doc and with guys like CP3 and Paul Pierce (strong leaders) where they could view him as a difference maker who could push them over the edge.

Wade is his buddy, but I don't think he'd accept trade to Bulls as they are not quite a championship team and Butler and Wade are not exactly strong leaders.

I'd trade Melo to Cavs or Clips for salary flexibilities and draft picks as it's only our chance to unload him. We need someone who approaches the game with right sense of urgency and that sense of mission. KP is that guy. Build around him.
