This illustrates the issue of guarding him. You have to make him settle for getting the ball at the perimeter. That's when a quick double makes him give up the ball.

iHart in drop coverage was never going to work since it allowed him to receive the ball in the paint. Further, we were leaving iHart stranded on that island and not doubling when he got the ball down low either.

This was a fail.

The only validity I can credit to this is Mitch cannot play 40 minutes a game, but what puzzled me was not playing Mitch every one of the last 8 minutes of the 4th quarter.

Yes, we won, but we were successfully guarding Maxey and Mitch was holding off Embiid for the most part when he was in the game.

Winning hides the blemishes, but I still don't buy Thibs' defensive strategy here.

At least Indy will allow more man to man D. They will require more spaced coverage and we'll have to defend the three and prevent cut backs for easy buckets against them. And since we are a rebounding team we're going to have to release someone downcourt on prevent defense to guard against outlet passes more often with a team like Indy.

I have feeling TJ McConnel will be the most annoying player next series...I think if we can contain him for the most part we win.

I know it sounds crazy with Haliburton on the roster. But TJ McConnel worked us and we kinda struggle containing really quick guards.

So the pacers will either send a couple guys to crash the boards to not get mauled all game(prob still won’t work) and won’t be able to run OR they will try to run and get obliterated on the boards, either way I don’t see this going longer then 5-6

The Pacers have better role players than the Sixers and will be a tougher matchup on the perimeter for Hartenstein/Robinson. This is a series that we will need to see some Precious minutes.

And most importantly a series where we cannot play 6-7 men every game and expect to win.

Knocking Embiid out of the POs is not some great accomplishment. It's been done time and time again. At this point, getting an early KO from the POs is Embiid's day job.

Knicks need to win this Pacers series for things to feel meaningful.
