Outside of one game against Philly, Donte has been superb.

Not at all. He had a nightmare round 1. Shooting just 36% from the field with awful defense. Nice to see him step it up lately though.

Last two games he played solid defense on Maxey. Especially the close out game.

Precious has really good hands and is in the right places at the right time ... I think it's sort of amusing, too, that he makes a bee line for the basket to try to dunk it no matter what, but also has a NFW attitude toward shooting from 3 in the playoffs lol

I’m hoping he can come back for game 4 or 5 and play like 20-25 minutes or something. He WAS walking off the court after not initially being able to get up.

Regarding Obi:

I’m never in the game threads during the games, but it’s funny how triggered some are getting over him. We tried to tell you he was a good player in a bad situation here. He’s got flaws, but is great at what he does well and has performed in the playoffs every time he’s been in them. Only getting better.

Yes he lost his starting job to Siakam, but if you go to Pacers forums (Reddit, etc) many want to keep Obi over him actually. When you take how they have played against us, their age difference, and Siakam’s crazy contract demands it’s understandable. Obi didn’t take off as a starter for them, but he has gotten better as the season went on. Ended it great and took it into the playoffs.

Rick plays Obi with Siakam at the 4/5 and even plays Obi at the 3 with Siakam and Turner/Jackson. These are things Thibs didn’t do that we wanted to give him some extra time.

Pacer fans are saying Obi has been defending and rebounding better the last few months as well, and the numbers/eye test show that. He’s not perfect, but we gave the guy away for nothing because we didn’t have any plan for him.

I hope we smack the Pacers and Obi now, but it’s a good thing that Leon didn’t draft some bust with his first pick like many here called him for years.

The problem is Obi's defense. The Pacers are not a good defensive team.

Essentially it goes like this:

1. Grade 1 strain: No structural damage, just micro trauma. 3-10 days recovery.

2. Grade 2 is a partial tear: 2-3 weeks recovery which would put him out for this series for sure.

3. Grade 3 strain: 4-6 weeks and if you don't rest and rehab it it can drag on for a couple months.

This is very tentative and speculation: By his initial reaction I'm a little sceptical whether it is just a grade 1 strain because he seemed quite in some pain. Usually in grade 1 strain players are not really in much pain...they simply grab the back of their thigh and walk off the court...sometimes they even try to stretch it out....I have literally watched countless soccer players with this type of injury so my initial reaction to OG was he is out AT LEAST 1-2 weeks and we are talking best case scenario...However he walked by himself off the court etc.
In grade 3 tears players usually are helped off the court so I don't think it is Grade 3....probably Grade 1-2......don't want to sound too pessimistic but if he sits out a week and makes a comeback for game 5 in a week I would definitely take that and run....if it is more than Grade one he is pretty much done for the season really. However if we get through Indy we really accomplished everything possible this season....with or without OG...we wouldn't be able to beat Boston without Randle, Mitch and Bojan...too shorthanded....Philly and Indy are nowhere near their level...

At this point, if we can be sure to get a relatively healthy OG back by Game 5, we can afford two losses in Indiana. OG is not only our best defender but his three-point shooting can be a difference-maker. We have to hope its only a two game injury.

This Indy team ain't all that TBH... even without OG, we can steal a game in Indy with Precious giving you 60% of what OG does, maybe.

I actually think Precious defense, especially against Bigs is close to equal to OG. I actually thought that on those possessions where he ended up guarding Siakam he did an even better job than OG to be honest. However it is the offense where OG is much much much better. Still I agree with your point that we could steal a game without OG. Case in point our 109-105 victory in MSG in march...we beat them without Randle, Mitch and OG. Definitely possible.

I don't get the bitterness and hate unless it goes back to with Kenny Smith getting his ass handed to him by Derek Harper, Oakley punking Barkley and Ewing not worshipping Shaq as a young player. But I doubt it's any of that. They are all retired players who come across as jealous cause they never got this type of support from their own teams.

It won’t happen but Alec Burks should be waived today. He comes in and loses his man and then takes a hard shot — he is the antithesis of the winning culture we’ve built on the back of JB.
