Look, fellas, most people around the league are lukewarm on this. This is not even close to a slam dunk. And the downside - injuries with gigantic immovable contract is so massive that this trade was simply not worth the risk.
But here we are.
The Knicks will Knick.
I also don’t want to hear about Leon Rose again. 98% of this guys transactions are simply acquiring his former players, family friends, or anyone connected to Thibs/Gersos or whatever his name is. It would be more impressive if he could think outside the box and not only acquire CAA clients or people Thibs baptized.
We basically went all in on the worst defensive center in the league that happens to be more injury prone than Mitchell Robinson. Yet the homers here think we crazy for not loving the move

They were hiding when we traded their favorites RJ and Obi and the Knicks were balling in January. They’ll be hiding again as usual.

Looks like we’re already taking hits with projections since we got KAT, as some of us predicted. Oh well. Hopefully KAT can prove everyone wrong.

Put a long athletic defender on JB and make him work for it. You can hide your pg on Josh or Bridges to deny kickouts.F N 11 wrote:Im Coming Home wrote:

Let's talk about it now.
Last May, without Randle....the Knicks were thrashing anyone in their way until OG went down.
Beat the championship level Sixers 4-2
Were up 2 games to 0 on the Pacers til OG went down.
Thus proving: The Knicks don't need Randle...
He's gone forever and thank goodness. Wish he could take his insufferable standles with him.

You be rooting for your man’s Devin Vassell and mikal before he became a Knick in other threads. Don’t do that switching up schit with me cause I got receipts for days
And we’re all rooting for KAT. Just because we don’t love the move like you doesn’t mean we ain’t rooting for him. Seems like it’s hard for you to differentiate from that. Carry on though.

I wanted to draft them because I knew they would be good. Never rooted for them or their teams. You got the receipts, show them.

It's a patience game and now the Knicks have guys that can make teams pay. Focus on JB, he kicks to open Hart, Hart has a smaller man on him, Hart attacks the basket, defense collapses to help, OG or Bridges open in the corners for 3 or KAT open at the basket.
It was different when you had Hart and your C wasn't a scoring theat. With KAT, all it takes is 1 breakdown to fold your defense.

It’s laughable.
You don’t want to hear about Leon Rose????
Do you see the freaking roster??????
If only he could think outside the box??? The whole league is frozen transaction wise and these dudes trading former g leaguers playing out their dream in Greece to make the money work on deal.
This is the best the Knicks have been by far in 30 freaking years. And not lightly the best - They have the third best title odds in the league!
You don’t have to loveeee the move, but to not even a) understand b) give the benefit the doubt or at the very minimum c) show some respect to the team and the front office from building this team from scratch all in their prime all with contracts destined to be a contender for the next 4 years.
Jeez this is ugly

A lot of times guys have really high 3pt %'s because they shoot a lot of stand still corner 3's. For example KP shot 35% on similar looks last year. League avg top of the key 3's is around 35% and KAT destroys those avgs.
Having a big that is elite from the top of the key will be such a nightmare to defend for opposing teams.
His career average is like 42% from the top of the key too. He's always killed from there.
whichin theory makes him a great fit here offensively with OG and Mikal are +40% 3 point shooters from the corner. We are going to be a tough **** matchup with Brunson putting pressure in the mid range and rim with his floater.
MIkal and KAT are also pretty good in the mid range as well. OG wasn't half bad with his middy last year as well. That plays up in the playoffs when teams try to take away your strength and give up mid ranges for free.
I don't know why this post gave me hope after not loving the trade. I still have no idea how we will protect the rim but maybe I am being too pessimistic.
Speaking of rim protection does anyone know why opponents shot 66% at the rim against Mitch in the regular season and 68% in the playoffs? Those are terrible numbers for a defensive big. I know his numbers outside of rebounding have decreased over the last few years from field goal percentage to free throw percentage but is he no longer the rim protector we think he is?
He has gained weight and is less explosive but is the idea he is a great rim protector just in our heads or is something being missed in those numbers? I don't follow defensive metrics but I thought all of them favored him.
