Can we just opt to give Utah the pick this year and worry about next year when there might be actual talent available? There isn't much out there this year.

Could but don't think that would be a good idea. You want to know what you have before going into the summer of 2010. That means you need to know what the guy (or guys if they get another pick as some want) you get in this draft can do on the court and/or if determine what they can do with Lee and Robinson, both of whom they will need to make (probably difficult) decisions on. You also want to show potential free agents that "hey we already have some good players here rather than, you know what, give us a shot in the draft". And of course, you have to go into the season expecting to make the playoffs, at which point the pick will be a lot lower than 8. If you give Utah the 8th pick then you're kinda saying that "we don't believe that we can make the playoffs next year either and expect to be back in the lottery". Not exactly a good thing to portray to your fans and your players.

we could

but we need to put the pieces together this year to attract the FA next year and also field a competitive team THIS year

first, we trade harrington for camby
get evans or clark at 8
must get another pick for a PG

drafted PG, wilson, clark, danilo, camby
drafted pg, evans, wilson, danilo, camby

thats the basic moves

then comes the moves with nate and lee...if we cant sign them reasonably, we must S and T them and get some building pieces

Do the Jazz even still have our pick? Didn't they trade it to Philly for the Kyle Korver trade?

Do you know why that is?

It is because he was short his entire life and got a growth spurt in Highschool kind of like Durant.

Durant is 6' 10" tall and plays like guard. Obviously Clark isnt as good as Durant but you get my point.

He may not be done growing. I bet of all the players in the draft his specs will be the truest to form. Dude is approaching Brolic....I see Manchild in the very immediate future. If we don't draft him it will prove to be crippling

'Been saying that for months now. More and more are warming up to it. Utah will likely decline, but we should still strongly consider it.
