Tanking can be done organically if the FO has their eye towards internal development. Go young and cheap and its a makeshift rebuild. The core will determine your draft pick but you can be a big player in FA.

The semantical issues regarding tanking are extentive. Imo controlling ones own destiny regarding acquring talent ex.the draft , is the surest way to assure the FO can build the team they want.

There were rumors of Ainge wanting to trade up to 5 to take Bamba, what if he falls all the way until 9? I would trade 9 for Jaylen Brown plus a pick next year, would they?

Probably not. On the flip side I wouldn’t trade bamba for brown straight up. Bamba’s ceiling is sky high.

Curious, anybody think SGA will be a better player than Frank?

he could end up being the best point in the draft i wouldnt count him out but as for being better than frank i dont know he's much better breaking down defenses than Frank, i think frank will mold into the better shooter both versatile defenders with size

I talked this kid up on here for a while not too long ago but didn't get too much back from people about him. He would come into the league being able to do more on offense then Frank could do last year and i do think he'll be a better offensive player then Frank will cause i'm not sure Frank will ever become great at taking it to the basket like this kid can but i still think Frank is and will be better on defense even though both will be good. I think in shooting is where Frank might become better then SGA, and that's not to say SGA won't be a good shooter.

they were supposed to plan to tank the summer before. then they signed timmy and a bunch of veterans and kept lee/koq etc. they should be planning for it this summer. especially with kp out. we'll see what happens.

i don't really think they will either. they think they're being noble by not doing so. there's people here who buy into that too.

The Knicks simply have more talent than teams like Atlanta, Memphis and Phoenix. You can't just tank without completely ridding yourself of talent. To tank now is taking a few steps back just to take a gamble which may not pay off anyway. Sacramento has been "tanking" for years and where has it gotten them? You get to where you want to be by staying patient, developing your young players, adding smart pieces as you go, showing you can have a winning system and signing the right player to put you over the top at the right time. It's not that hard. Problem is we have wanted to skip steps for years and surprised when it falls apart because the foundation wasn't there.

Who knows, maybe they asked for it. Gives the impression of them being higher than the viewer; like an authority. Even though neither one has proven to be successful at drafting or scouting.
