this year clouds our judgment but even the harshest Mikal critics can agree he wasn't used properly
I mean we have footage of him passing up layups for a middies
if you can't up your intensity for thibs it seems like a you-problem. even if kat sucks at d, you saw him hustling for boards and trying his hardest out there. mikal floated through the entire season besides some big moments vs boston imo
Mikal definitely needed to play with more intensity but I also don't expect anyone to lead the league in minutes while supposedly leading the lead in amount of times being screened or something while playing next to 2-3 bad defenders for long periods of the game. Put him on OKC, Houston or even Indiana and he probably plays with more intensity sharing the load with better defenders and playing shorter stretches on contending teams.
The Thibs effect gets exaggerating a bit imo. For years it's been a few guys waiting for their turn on offense while coasting on defense with a few other guys picking up the slack.
With that being said Mikal still had a disappointing season and in the final year of his of his deal as the older player I don't think he has close to the value of a younger Bane under contract through what could be the peak years of his career.
