this year clouds our judgment but even the harshest Mikal critics can agree he wasn't used properly

I mean we have footage of him passing up layups for a middies

if you can't up your intensity for thibs it seems like a you-problem. even if kat sucks at d, you saw him hustling for boards and trying his hardest out there. mikal floated through the entire season besides some big moments vs boston imo

Mikal definitely needed to play with more intensity but I also don't expect anyone to lead the league in minutes while supposedly leading the lead in amount of times being screened or something while playing next to 2-3 bad defenders for long periods of the game. Put him on OKC, Houston or even Indiana and he probably plays with more intensity sharing the load with better defenders and playing shorter stretches on contending teams.

The Thibs effect gets exaggerating a bit imo. For years it's been a few guys waiting for their turn on offense while coasting on defense with a few other guys picking up the slack.

With that being said Mikal still had a disappointing season and in the final year of his of his deal as the older player I don't think he has close to the value of a younger Bane under contract through what could be the peak years of his career.

Nonsense. Mikal was one of or best players during that December run. He has several game winning blocks/steals this year and in the playoffs. The shyt this guy gets for being completely abused by Thibs is ridiculous.

It’s the easy thing to say and it is realgm in 2025, so …

That's just crazy. He has been getting **** since PRESEASON! Thibs was terrible at utilizing this team. Absolutely terrible.

We are a week away from the draft and no speculation who we take at #50?

It will depend on who they are probably thinking about moving and or bringing in.

If they want KAT for Durant, they better pony up two future 1st rounders...

3 years of KAT for 1 year of a 37 yo Durant? No.

We would only trade for him under the assumption that he would agree to a more reasonable extension at a lower amount... which he doesn't seem opposed to. Durant's best weapon right now is his ability to sign an extension with his preferred destination.

If we could get KD and at least one future 1st, it should be considered because if he re-signs at a lower amount for 2 more years, we just opened up some precious under-the-apron cap vs. KAT's contract and we got a player who is a better fit for us despite the advanced age.

I'm hoping Booker puts the screws to Ishbia to get KAT at whatever cost...

38 when the season starts? Phoenix needs to somehow come up with AT LEAST two of the picks we sent to BKN for Bridges!!!

Our entire core four is sub 30. We have a nice window 3-4 year window under the restrictive CBA. KD is just too much risk

I think Leon is too risk averse to trade KAT for KD... that doesn't mean he won't trade KAT for someone else/younger...

On a serious side I think once we fired Thibs, that meant KAT is staying. They prob feel like a new coach can unlock him and Brunson together offensively. I just don’t think you can fix their defense no matter who the coach is. But hopefully I’m wrong and the Knicks know what they’re doing.

Watch and see. KAT is very likely NOT getting traded. Its not driven by being too risk averse either. They have committed to him to the point of being the least expendable after JB.

In the event he goes it would be for a top 12-15 NBA player with the bare minimum being a JJJ type. He is top 15 bc of the defensive POY level ability.

Even in the event of a JJJ type, the preference is going to be to keep KAT if at all possible. They 100% aren't trading KAT for lesser players.

In the event of a Kessler, Jabari Smith etc. or something ....its laughable to think we would trade KAT for him.
