He wanted to play in the NY area, not necessarily for the Knicks. Of course maybe he wanted to play for the Knicks only and Dolan just outbid himself.

The other day I saw a poll in the local paper that 60% of Knicks fans want him back. Are some Knicks fans still delusional from the day he signed with the team, proclaiming the Knicks are back, he is still the savior of the franchise?

The delusional fans are the ones thinking we can get anything of any value back for STAT. You don't sell when your stock is at its lowest value. STAT has had a terrible season, marred with injuries and off-court issues. Lets see what he looks like next year.

I don't see how he can get any better next season, they don't have a pick and roll pg and there is no chemistry with Melo. What worries me is he will have the same type of season next, without injuries and he is truly exposed as being washed up. No team would want him then and we'll be stuck with him another few years.

Nuggets may have thought NY's package was better. They seem to be doing well this year, compared to Utah. Melo even said he thought he was going to NJ.

It wasn't Amare. Melo wanted NY. I still think Amare should have caused Melo not to want the Knicks, they aren't winning it all with him at PF and he is a large risk.

Not the best of hands for sure but they have to figure out how to get the best with what they can. If they can find a taker for Stoudemire that would give them back something that can actually help win better then great. Otherwise, through coaching or what not, they need to figure it out. It is what it is. The sliver lining is that Woodson was 18-6, the Knicks were among the best defensive teams in the NBA and that Lin could very well be the next big thing. So it's not all gloom and doom. The Knicks biggest problem this season was a coach that couldn't get through to the players they had early on and then a whole spat of injuries throughout the season (and really overflowing in the playoffs) that really overshadowed some really positive signs. Are they good enough to top Miami? Probably not. But neither is about 25 other teams in the NBA. Doesn't mean they should quit. All it takes is a bit of luck here and an injury (to another teams superstar there) for the Knicks to be serious. A lot of pressure will be on Grunwald to hopefully get past his allegiances and do the right thing for this team. He did make some really good moves in spite of the Knicks not having much in the way of any assets so no reason to expect him to not be able to do a few more this offseason.

Yep. It's next to impossible to move him right now unless the Knicks want to either take back even bigger contracts (Joe Johnson) or some combination of crap that has large contracts just to shave a year off wha they owe Stoudemire (like Ben Gordon and Charlie Villaneuva). Their best bet is to hope (expect) Stoudemire to recover from back problems (funny that his knees are the one thing that has endured) and get closer to being the 2010 Stoudemire instead of the relatively awful 2011 version. THEN they may be able to move him for something that has more value.

With the MLE going to Lin Grunwald will need to be creative to try to add the necessary supporting cast via mostly just vet minmium signings. If they can convince Jackson to coach this team then what that does is create a pull that could get them more guys willing to jump on for the vet minimum than they would with Woodson AS WELL AS Jackson being experienced in getting personalities...like Melo and Stoudemire...to get on the same page to win championships (it's really what he's best known for which really can't be understated here as far as the 2 "stars" being out of whack with one another. Lin is going to have to show that Linsanity is here to stay and Shumpert continue to progress as a potential lockdown defender to anchor their defense with the one consistent positive this season...Tyson Chandler. A starting 5 of Chandler, Stoudemire, Anthony, Shumpert and Lin is no joke...that's some serious wattage there. Would love to see what a championship caliber head coach (and a more reliable training staff) can do with this group.

I can see though management doing something non-sensical in trading Amar'e for lesser players or adding on another outrageous contract. He seems to still be associated with the D'antoni and Walsh regime and maybe Isiah can convince Dolan that the fire extinguisher incident shows he's a bad fit for the team going forward. The Knicks under Dolan seem to be more about Garden politics than winning on the court.

Amare has not worked well with Melo for the last 1.5 seasons on offense and he plays below average defense. I would not be sad to see him traded away for a ending contract and draft pick or two.

i dont think Boozer has a worse game than Amare

he has a better jumpshot
and he is a MUCH MUCH MUCH better rebounder

defense is a wash.

Yeah, but he's not a better scorer. Amar'e at least block shots sometimes. And he at least has a presence whatever that may be. Boozer is ewwww.

Thibbs can't even trust Boozer on the floor in the fourth quarter.

Thibs would bench STAT for a player like Taj Gibson in a heartbeat. For the record, I don't want any part of Carlos Boozer.
