In my never ending quest to find the answer why the Knicks outside shooting sucks compared to other teams, the fact that they rarely have or had a PG who makes crisp passes to the open shooter in a decisive manner was a reason I kept thinking.
Of course some of it is the players, some of it is coaching and the plays run. I'm starting to think 1/2 of it was the guards running the offense, because the shooters looked more comfortable even with Baker out there, and with Frank it jumped again.

I expect outside shooting percentages to go up

Good call, Rasho. I'd bet anything Frank played a bunch of soccer too. That was a soccer look all the way.

No all star sg prospects this draft in the top 5.

Luka Doncic seems to be a SG/SF and is regarded by many as the #1 pick right now.

That's a list of bums for the most part. All of them really. Marginal starters or backups.

Frank has yet to prove hes any better then those guys. I know everyone has him projected as the greatest PG in NY history already, but its been one game. if he doesnt find his shot, hes just as marginal as those guys. Im confident since hes only 19, that his shooting will only improve from here, but again, its been one game.

same with Willy, hes in the same tier as any of those guys as well. He reminds me a lot of David Lee actually.

In one of the post games last year, either Wally or Hahn said it was a non starter from Melo's side if it wasn't in the contract.

And Dolan most likely told Phil he had to bring back Carmelo by any means necessary

I doubt Phil would've ever agreed to it on his own. Phil said straight up "we're fortunate whether Melo stays or goes." Those aren't the words of someone conceding to a ntc from the get-go. I had to be on Dolan.

Yeah but Phil got 3 core pieces and didn't go for quick fixes. He started to change the operating manual. Made a bunch of mistakes but the big stuff and overall arc was right and is paying off already.

Noah/Lee/Rose/Afflalo/Calderon were quick fixes. That was his problem. He went from let's make the playoffs to tank to playoffs to tank all in the same season multiples times.

Quick fixes were all his free agent signings.

Yup. This narrative that he wanted to rebuild and didn't try to win is nonsense. He backed into the lottery twice because what he built was terrible.

To his credit, he didn't trade picks to fix it and he nailed the picks.

That's the reality. Not any better, not any worse.

Just happy to move forward and focus on the growth of the kids.

Probably a starter at this rate. Dude has been unstoppable despite the poor spacing provided and the mediocre PG play.

Lee won a title and helped but he was a toxic defender and the rest of the guys were variations of not that good. I think we will look back on Phil's picks and say he did considerably better.

And Frank can already shoot. He just needs to get better skills all around on O over time.
