LeBron didn't care if the left the Cavs in a sh*tty state after he left. He doesn't care if he leaves the Lakers in a sh*tty state after he leaves.

But it wouldn't be that bad. The Lakers would have AD. And kind of be gutted.

Works for AD, as if the Lakers can't put a good team around him, he'll force a trade again.

Probably works for LA, as the league will step in and somehow gift them some bounty none of us can imagine right now.

Lets see if Perry bends over to whoever star comes here. If he doesnt, while signing the guy -- then I might consider him to be one of the greatest Knicks gm of all time.

It all depends. In the meantime, I hope he picks up a 2nd rounder by the trade deadline, but I'm not optimistic, only because now they are super adverse to picking up even a few dollars on the cap, but also I think it's always been a little difficult to unload an expiring to a playoff team if the team sending is reluctant to add to the cap, as covered by someone, the playoff team has to have expirings it wants to get rid of and like the player coming back, which reduces odds.

I looked at the expirings for 2019. Lots of them would need to get paid. But teams would be more careful in doling out maxxes and huge contracts with how difficult it is now to unload contracts without surrendering picks. Good for the future of the league, I would say. It means FOs around are getting smarter.

We not trading the young guys and picks like Perry said. I’m proud. Keep the rebuild going to have maximum flexibility. Our young guys can be really good next to great players.

Perry is not dumb. He’s not letting it get out that Knox, and young guys are in a proposed deal when he’s trying to build a culture here. They ain’t want Kp and picks fine. Move on..

Kind of wild to think Ainge would trade Tatum.

I don’t think he does it.

NO is looking for a record haul of picks... look who just acquired 2 first round picks. I’m sure that we’re in the market for more as well.

Would you guys trade:

2019 1st - no protection
2-2021 1st - no protection
2-2023 1st - no protection
Kanter
Knox

For

AD

I’m not worried. Ainge taking a big gamble trading for AD without AD committing long term (which he won’t).
Celtics can end up losing Kyrie to us, losing assets to trade for AD then losing AD in free agency the year after.
Could be the biggest risk in NBA history.

All because Ainge is stubborn and thinks he can convince AD to stay, the same way he convinced Garnett to stay.
Problem is, AD’s dad don’t want him there. AD’s agent doesn’t want him there. He likened Lebron to Trump, which AD apparently didn’t like. It’s just too many knocks.

And if we end up with that first pick, Celtics would HAVE to up their offer. Tatum, Brown, picks.

AD is that good and that young. There’s not many players like him. He’s the KG/Duncan of the next generation.

Celtics pursuing AD, “regardless” of Irving’s decision is an insult to Kyrie also because that means Boston is fine with just matching Rozier’s offer, dealing players like Tatum & Brown & still feel like it’s a better team than currently constructed.

Well it’s not just AD. Reports is that they want cap relief. So that’s at least Solomon Hill.
Also, NO would want all prospects. Look at Lakers offer.
NO asking for 4 1st rd picks + Kuzma, Ingram, Ball.

Because our prospects are lesser known a, we’re looking at those picks above + Knox, Frank, Mitchell, Trier, Vonleah. Maybe more because DSJr can’t be in a trade with others, I’m pretty sure. Not for 60 days.
We’re also losing a max cap spot.

Knicks are likely only in play if they hold until the summer. At that point we and they know our draft position, and we can make a deal that doesn't effect the cap room as much. If we were sending back the #1 pick no way in hell we give them cap relief.

Some valid points.
Kyrie holds a lot of power here. If he leaves, Boston’s offer might not be as good as it’s rumored to be. Why offer Tatum, when Kyrie is gone? You need Tatum.

Pelicans also have to ask, if Tatum/Brown were on the Lakers & Ingram/Kuzma were on the Celtics....would the perception of those players be different because of the system their in?
D-Lo left the Lakers and became an All-Star.
Julius Randle has been putting in work after he left the Lakers too.
Ball, Kuzma & Ingram could possibility all see giant steps forward in their development.

It’s mind boggling what Boston is doing. They had, literally the most valuable organization in terms of assets, not even draft picks, somehow ended up with Brooklyn’s picks LOTTERY PICKS, and moreeeee, all the youth.

Thennn signing Hayward, Kyrie uncommitted, so he either signing with NYK/LAL, then making it clear they want AD, trading Tatum, Brown and firsts just for him to be a rental? You literally lose all your day leverage and assets in two years.

That’s NYK bad. The Knicks are seriously beginning to look like what Boston should’ve been.

They really should've dealt Brown and Terry last year. They're "good" players still, their % were abnormally high last yr.

Irving and Leonard might be the better fit

Irving / Smith / Teodosic
Ntilikina / Trier / Hezonja
Leonard / Dotson / Korver
Williamson / Knox / Melo
Robinson / Vonleh / Kornet

Overplaying their hand.
Those Hayward & Horford contracts aren’t going to age well either. Which is why they’re desperate for some type of trade. They’re out the free agency game, even if Kyrie leaves.
