Re: New York Yankees Thread
Girardi was praised because he took some mediocre Yankee teams to .500 records.
Boone practically did the same last year, and now possibly this year, and he gets sh*tted on for it.

They work the counts drive runs in with RISP it doesn't matter who on their team is up to bat or pitching. Also replacing Girardi with Boone managing against Kevin Cash doesn't help. I blame Cashman more then I blame Boone btw, this is what he wanted I think Girardi wouldnt picked up a thing or 2 against the Rays, Boone just sits there chewing his gum and does nothing.
Even with Cole pitching they hit his mistake pitches, and in innings they dont score they are getting men on base it all added up to him not being able to get through 7 which meant Britton throwing more pitches (who will go on the DL btw not official yet). In the game the Rays lost they didnt allow Cole to pitch 5 innings which meant Chad Green had to throw multiple innings and that had an effect the next 2 games where Green was unavailable. Its all the little things that add up. Ya on paper Yankees are better but the eye test is telling you the Rays are the better team.
Yankees are just very frustrating to watch, they constantly make mistakes and it will cost you against good teams and the Rays see this on film and have capitalized on it.
And yet they've won 0 World Series for all their analytical brilliance.
Exactly the Rays with their no rings who aren’t judged on championships. Don’t think the Rays really care about past history btw.

Sounds like the Yankees are the worst team in baseball.
Hmm. 3rd best record in all of baseball even after they just dropped 2 in a row.
So your satisfied with just making the playoffs. Sure they look great against weaker teams but their flaws are showing and will get exposed against better teams. I’m just calling it like it is.
It's baseball.
Even with it's less restrictive rules around spending, it's hard to win in the playoffs
The Yankees have managed to sustain excellent play for what, about 26 years now?
Managed to rebuild the farm system via smart trades in a few years - not that the farm system was ever bad or anything.
They are one of the top 5 teams in baseball even in this year.
Has every move been perfect (hello Stanton)? No.
And now in a season like this, if you can call playing basically 1/3 of a season a season, if a player goes on the two week DL, it's missing a 1/3 of the season, well, just about anything can happen.

Wake me up when Tanaka/Paxton/Happ start getting wins. They have 2 between them I think. Take away Judge/DJ etc from the lineup and you struggle. The Ray's are a decent team. Good for them. We need the middle of our rotation to start pitching like they belong. We need at least Judge and DJ back. Things will look much better then.

Paxton and Torres getting MRIs with Britton landing on the IL. Someone somewhere has voodoo dolls of everyone on this team.

Dear god maybe its a blessing we got swept. Call up Schmidt I dont see the harm in it, you can have him on a limited pitch count fine, if all else fails hes getting experience, if you can pitch Happ, Cessa, Holder and Avilan in critical spots and you can't get Schmidt up here thats pathetic.

No more words needed, team needs to get back to the drawing board, refocus and self assess. Get some guys back.

I agree with everything you said. I tend to rant during games, I think pointing out flaws in the team is fine as well as pointing out the positives its all a discussion. I dont mean to pile on I just like to call things how I see them. The playoffs are always a crap shoot, especially this year, well the rest of the season won't be boring, at least we have something to look forward to other then Covid (hopefully anyways).

I'm going to be a VERY happy man when I don't have to see Paxton or Happ anymore.
I'm going to celebrate that day.

We should just rest our important players until the last 15 games of the season.

Eh, we're not even full strength.
Aside from our pitchers being ass, aside from Cole, these games would be a lot more closer if we had our lineup intact.

Well clearly we don't have the starting pitching to hang with them. And even if we had our lineup in tact we don't have enough contact hitters aside from Judge and DJ. Stanton will probably look like Arod in the playoffs out there.

Re: New York Yankees Thread
Hopefully Gleybar gets back soon. He's stunk this year, but the other current options are vomit-inducing.
As for Paxton and Avilan, just stay home and don't return please.
This team is cursed with injuries like the Knicks are cursed with failure.

The thing that sucks is Gleyber was starting to get into a groove. Avilan is what he is. Paxton is frustrating can be unhittable one moment then he folds up like a cheap tent when he gives up a hit or a walk. At least Judge will be back.

I ain't really scared about the Rays...I'm more concerned about the Yankees. I think if we take care of our stuff, no one can beat us. Unfortunately, our pitching has been a big ass problem since forever. But we got some time before the playoffs.

It would be interesting to see if the Yanks make a call to Cincy at deadline for Bauer.
