This is a new Pelosi interview. Probably the most concise overview on pending legislation waiting to happen. This may give us the best glimpse at some of what will happen in the first months of a Biden presidency.Speaker Pelosi opened the discussion by addressing her top priorities for the next House term if Joe Biden wins. She stated her first priority will be HR1, the reform bill for cleaner government. Her other two top legislative priorities will be health care and jobs. Pelosi’s additional priorities will include the infrastructure bill, lower drug costs, voting rights advancement, LGBT equality, protecting DREAMers, paycheck fairness, the Violence Against Women Act, gun background checks, climate action, and justice in policing.
It would probably be easier to list the things that don't need to be fixed, if any exist.
Sure, but I think this should erase any doubt about whether they are ready to get to work and start fixing this mess

Biden's administration can tangibly impact citizen's lives and show they are better off than with the GOP which completely turned its back on Americans. The partisan divide can weaken further by actually doing what he says he'll do, especially the capital investments in infrastructural change that can create new jobs. I think the economic recovery from covid will be different in that Trump's inaction wiped out lots of small businesses and many people will be living hand to mouth and starting over. Biden and his team can help many of those people survive and recover. They'll vote for you if they know why and how you helped them and this time I think the cause and effect between policies and their benefits will be more transparent than ever.
Trump is such an epic disaster, even a moderately competent administration will look good by comparison, but that's not enough. They really have to connect with and convince lifelong Republicans that they will do better with Democrats. It is obvious to us why that would be true, but it is up to them to make that case through both articulated reasons and deeds.
The beautiful thing is that Congress has already passed a lot of these bills that people want. All that needs to happen is to get control of the Senate to pass these legislations and Biden will sign off on it. I still don’t get how people don’t understand that Congress passes the laws, why is anyone acting like Biden would get in the way of any laws passed by Congress?
Coronavirus relief - check
Police reform - check
Election protection - check
Money out of politics - check
How many black people who claim Democrats won’t do anything for them have looked up the jobs and justice act ? - https://cbc.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2228
LGBTQ rights - check
This has already been done and passed but progress can’t be made because of Mitch McConnell, Senate Republicans and Trump. It’s obvious to anyone where the roadblocks lie.
I'm sorry, huh? The **** is that? Black people all making minimum wage now? The MBDA only for black people (they actually give a disproportionate amount of their grants to Asian business owners)? HBCUs only for black students?
This is that same "we'll do things for poor people that disproportionately help the white poor" and "we'll do things for minority business owners that disproportionately help Asians and recent immigrants" bull as usual. In no way, shape, or form is that them doing something for black people.
You should read the whole document, they specifically mention what they’ll do for African Americans. For example:
Establishes a commission to study and develop reparation proposals for African Americans.
Supports black-owned depository institutions by codifying the Minority Bank Deposit Program, which encourages the federal agencies to deposit their funds with minority banks.
Requires the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection to assess the use of specific educational data related to determining the creditworthiness of an applicant, including data related to attendance at HBCUs, MSIs, and community colleges.
Then there’s also Biden’s Lift Every Voice Plan which again specifically highlights certain policies for black people. Again read the whole thing.
https://joebiden.com/blackamerica/
Provide AfricanAmerican entrepreneurs and other small business owners technical assistance to help them apply for funding, as well as legal and accounting support to ensure their documentation (such as their financial records, tax filings, and other legal documents) is all in correct order. The Trump Administration and Congress should provide an additional infusion of operating capital to these CDFIs and community-focused lenders to ensure all African American entrepreneurs have access to the technical assistance and support they need.
Tackle racial bias that leads to homes in communities of color being assessed by appraisers below their fair value. Housing in communities primarily comprised of people of color is valued at tens of thousands of dollars below majority-white communities even when all other factors are the same, contributing to the racial wealth gap. To counteract this racial bias, Biden will establish a national standard for housing appraisals that ensures appraisers have adequate training and a full appreciation for neighborhoods and do not hold implicit biases because of a lack of community understanding.
Create a new public credit reporting division within the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to provide consumers with a government option that seeks to minimize racial disparities, for example by ensuring the algorithms used for credit scoring don’t have a discriminatory impact and by accepting non-traditional sources of data like rental history and utility bills to establish credit.
Again you can’t say that Democrats have done nothing or won’t do anything for black people. The biggest mistake is assuming if legislation isn’t written in bold letters, “this must only help black people!” that is doesn’t mean that black people wont disproportionately see the benefits. This isn’t a zero sum game.
And even if all these legislations and policies get passed, it doesn’t mean that it’s going to solve everything. But there will be good parts that you agree with and areas that you think need to go further or changed. And that’s not a bad thing at all. That’s how government works and how Democracy works. The worst thing to do is become cynical and act like nothing matters, ensuring destruction in the hands of Republicans.

Today on CBS News I watched Trump saying that the reason there are so many reported cases of COVID is that doctors are getting rich from this - they are paid $2000 for every COVID death they certify.
This is from the Washington Post, but I read it in Dave Pell's NextDraft daily email:
Gupta dared to say that the pandemic isn't over but is actually getting worse.
Attack science, attack medicine, run the country according to Fox News reports, and deny the truth everywhere. This is the end of the campaign, and of course, I hope this is the end of Trump.

and Kavanaugh perjured himself and I'm betting on him being impeached and removed from SCOTUS. After that, they will expand it, but perhaps by less than would be needed with Kavanaugh still in his seat
Biden has openly said he's not doing those things and recently when asked he just refuses to answer them (I'm guessing because he knows plenty of people are voting for him with the idea that he might actually get things done in mind). IDK you just seem way too optimistic when it comes to the Democratic Party and I don't know what evidence you can have to be so trusting of them getting things done.
There’s no way the Senate is just going to throw their hands up and pass zero legislation because they don’t have 60 votes. Depending on how big their majority is there might be convince a couple of Republicans who would sign off on legislation for their own self interest. They can start with what should be bipartisan legislation like coronavirus relief and they should can make a case pretty quickly that they need to get rid of the filibuster.

He was responding to a post that asked for a lot of goodness in a party - not racist, etc. But then the take on this was to just slam the Dems. Later on, he pulled back on the rant a bit when the post he was replying to was explained a bit. This election is definitely bringing out the worse in a number of people, but I fear that for some folks, ranting and reporting without evidence is their modus operandi.
Meanwhile, most of the country is silently hoping for what they dare not say they want out loud - an end to this criminally destructive administration.

There is plenty of evidence out there but you choose to label everything that doesn't match your opinion as "right wing" and immediately ignoring it. So what is the point of adding a source at all
It's funny how you ask for an end to destruction when the source of it has nothing to do with the administration and everything to do with the suppression of law and order from their opposition.

Hey, when people make statements and don't show proof from reliable sources (yes, there are a lot of right wing sites that all report the same that the others do), they get replies they don't like. There is, in general, a group of sites that do not ask for any serious investigation of serious claims. So while they may get clicks for kicks, they don't add anything to the discourse. Those who quote these sites don't add anything, either.
In fact, there are even those people on this board who just spew out whatever they can find, without any critical analysis, parroting what they find only to try to derail more serious conversations. It is not that right wing sources can't be correct, but it is true that most of them that have been quoted on this board simply aren't valid news reporting.
So if you'd like people to seriously consider extraordinary claims, you'll do better when you quote trustworthy news sources. If you don't regularly do that, you'll get put on ignore, like I'm going to do now.

LEST WE FORGET THE HORRORS: A CATALOG OF TRUMP’S WORST CRUELTIES, COLLUSIONS, CORRUPTIONS, AND CRIMES
THE COMPLETE LISTING. (SO FAR): ATROCITIES 1- 954
by JOHN McMURTRIE, BEN PARKER, STEPHANIE STEINBRECHER,
KELSEY RONAN, AMY SUMERTON, RACHEL VILLA, and SOPHIA DuROSE
Early in President Trump’s term, McSweeney’s editors began to catalog the head-spinning number of misdeeds coming from his administration. We called this list a collection of Trump’s cruelties, collusions, and crimes, and it felt urgent then to track them, to ensure these horrors — happening almost daily — would not be forgotten. This election year, amid a harrowing global health, civil rights, humanitarian, and economic crisis, we know it’s never been more critical to note these horrors, to remember them, and to do all in our power to reverse them. This list will be updated between now and the November 2020 Presidential election.
