Yo Ya! I'm so excited for some Obi tonight at the Garden! (metaphorically Yo!)
We need a domination as many here wanted a PG...

Westbrook will get us more wins, but I think he will hurt the team chemistry and what we are trying to build here.
I'd much rather get someone who is a better distributor and defender.
Wish there was a way to get a younger and more well rounded guard on here.

Hey ballboy, I don't see any science in what you wrote — and it's long past time for:

STFU and GTFO!

LOL, was my GTFO break long enough for you?

Anyone know whats up with Obi's back/posture? Can he stand up straight? He's always hunched over.

He has quite a bit of length, in particular long arms, and I wonder if that is a bit connected. He doesn't seem like he has anything that will shorten his career. Those long arms are going to aid in his defensive development though.

Even though Obi hasn't been a barn burner so far, what gives me a lot of faith in him is actually the clear IQ he CONSTANTLY is displaying. He isn't super fast, in particular laterally (a bit slow) but he does have crazy Amare hops. I want to see the guy out there playing with a mature team, as that is how he seems to play.

Another high IQ guy to add to the young bunch.

Tall, dynamic athleticly, outside shot, horrible defensively...Porter can play the 3 and is injury timebomb, Obi has to be a 4/5 and is a better passer, but both seem to fit the same sort of general prospect mold - and they're the same age.

Anyone that sees good stuff in MPJ should probably be as excited - if not more - for Obi.

Toppin plays more close range, is a better outlet passer and has more vision than MPjr.

Porter is a legit 6"10 and is better at scoring from the perimeter, he has separation moves and scores better off the dribble, Porter plays more like a 2 with good rebounding ability.

Toppin plays like a big with passing skills. MPJr is indeed a rare talent because he's 6"10-6"11 playing like KD/T'Mac without the IQ. He's a real bonehead sometimes but thats what makes his style threatening. He takes bad shots and makes them. His jumper is money and Denver will be a dynasty if Bol and MPjr fulfil their potential. Free.

I’m happy with Toppin so far. I’m not worried about the scoring. His attentiveness and effort are good and he’s got some areas where he can really play. He can use those as a starting point of growth.

Perfectly stated. Not to mention I don't know too many bigs that look like allstars after the 1st 4 preseason games. It's a rude awakening when everybody is a strong or stronger than you and just as athletic. That just means he has to learn that unguardable move in college is standard procedure now. That he'll need some counters and deception and in a way that's what we're seeing. He's being an opportunist and making the right passes, and I wouldn't be surprised that that's how Thibs is coaching him. You were Daytona superstar? Nah, you pass, you cut, you set screens. Do those things and the rest will come to you . And thats not bad advice. I like how he plays.

So what grade did y’all give obi based on his preseason performance?

I personally gave him a C+ He didn’t play good he didn’t play bad either. He played decent enough to give you some hope.

His playmaking potential and unselfishness are probably the biggest traits that stood out. I gave him a few points for flashing some post skills game 1.

I want to give him a higher grade but I feel like it would be bias.

Obi is going to be good. He showed me the most important thing in Exh season which is he's a smart player who is going to make his teammates better. The guy is a passing big man who can shoot. While some here are rating him on his early shooting results, I'm rating him on how much his passing game is going to make him a threat, because he will adjust and his shot will start to drop.

This board is going to be like a bunch of giddy schoolgirls once he gets going. And, no, it is not going to take two seasons. He'll get rolling this season.
