Unlike the last NJ-Den go around, Im not the least bit stressed about these rumors. This is absurd.

Sure $$$ plays a role. environment plays a role. But winning also absolutely has to play a role otherwise they wouldn't be competitive and they certainly wouldn't be at the top of their game. Even LeBron proved it. Bosh didn't go to Houston and he could have gotten MAX there. Wade didn't go back to CHI and he could have gotten MAX and contended there, but he knew his chances were increased exponentially with LeBron and Bosh. It's career suicide to play for a $hitty team for the $$$ but you guys like to think maybe Melo would do it because YOU might. I'm saying NO WAY!!!

What the guys in Miami did is neither a measure of predictability nor an assumption about Melo's character you can reliably correlate. You simply can't do it. That's life baby.

But you can make plausible arguments about why any move would make sense to you in terms of how you believe it would impact Melo. Personally, I see little to gain for him to sign anywhere else now since him and Stat on a Walsh run team with more cap room and some good supporting players in New York City is pretty hard to top. But what we simply don't know is how important it is to him to know how much $ he is going to make or if he is willing to accept less or go to FA.

Here's what I think would be smart, but I'm in a very small minority. If I were Melo, I would think my best chance to join NY and win a championship is to do anything possible to see us retain our talent and join us as a FA. His earning power as a champion would result in all the endorsement money he could dream of. As the lead scorer (Amar'e can take a back seat) on a championship team in NYC, he'd earn far more over time than he would on an average playoff team. The key may simply be letting Denver choke on itself and walking to us via FA. But, hey, that's just me and my crazy ideas. But I don't have a clue what is in Melo's head and neither does anyone else.

Lovin your posts Clyde_Style. I'm in your minority all the way. Let's see how it plays out.

Please enforce those penalties.... no more "get it done donnie's" and everyone who doesn't post with an "IMO" or this is what I would do... should receive mandatory time outs.

It's impossible to tell what's already been discussed in this thread, so I'm just going to post this anyway.

What do you guys think of the trade irritating-as- **** Bill Simmons is banking on:

"a three-teamer in which the Knicks get Melo but take back Billups and the Al Harrington Trade Tax; Denver gets Ray Felton, Wilson Chandler, Corey Brewer and expirings, sheds $11 million in 2011 payroll, gets a future No. 1 and an extra $3 million in cash from New York and reinvents itself cap-wise going forward; and Minnesota gets a chance to break the "Most Crazy Facial Expressions Ever" record with Anthony Randolph and Beasley.)"

I wonder if the Knicks would bite on this. Is it worth it to get Melo now? The Felton/Billups exchange seems reasonable given that the end of Billups' contract coincides with the 2012 FAs, and while I don't like Harrington's contract, I don't think it's going to stop us from future wheeling-and-dealing.

I'm trying really hard to see what exactly NJ plans is AFTER the trade. Where is the team? How can you build a championship team?

Can someone see it through their eyes for real? What is the plan for Jersey?

Jersey offer has always been on the table but there was never any indication Melo would sign so Nets backed out. There's no way any team gives up all those assets without a guarantee.

It doesnt make sense....

NJ said they stopped negotiations the first time because Denver was asking to much, so wtf was the first proposed deal ??? this is really a lighter trade ??? 4 Picks and Take on Balkman. Chaunceys gunna seek an immediate buy out...it doesnt make sense...BS, BS, BS....

Im sorry i am worried Melo has not sounded strong in this and has flip flopped but I mean you have to be worried Prokorov is said to be a good talker and who knows Melo in LA with Prokorov and with the CBA on his mind I mean its not that far fetched but he will contradict himself if he goes there I mean he said its about winning and him going there wouldn't be at least not this year I mean the team would have a starting lineup of
Billups
Morrow
Melo
Humpries
Lopez
with no bench not a bad lineup but not a very good one and can that one overcome their bad record i don't know about that.

Problem with nets is that they let themselves too big in a hole to make the playoffs this year. There's no guarantee that they make the playoffs next year either. That's a lot of selling to be done by Melo after next year because Chauncey will be gone. Can Melo alone lire two other stars with him? The nets would have to surely hope so.

Thanks. I'm trying to be strict. I had to handcuff Pharmcat to his 4-poster in his pink panties for 24 hours because they said Get it Donnie one time too many. If they do it again they will have to perform a lapdance for Mayor Bloomberg dressed up like Natalie Portman in Black Swan while humming the theme song from Bonanza at halfcourt during a home game at halftime. Let that be a warning to all of you.
