Exactly. A mere slap on the wrist is not enough. The league has to show these types of shenanigans will be taken seriously. The rule was created for him and he still broke it. Tbh, he doesn’t care about a 48hr suspension from the discussion thread as long as he brings attention to closing bids. He will gladly take that trade off.

Hoffa must be suspended from bidding during his 48hr suspension from the thread.

Just got caught up with all of the bids from the 1:30-4:30 window and everyone should have gotten a response.

Spoke with hoffa via PM and a few GM's who also let me know what was happening. I am not policing this discussion thread during FA. Just not a chance to do that while also calculating all the bids. From the looks of things hoffa broke the rule and got called out on it. He took responsibility in the PM to me and he will be suspended from the discussion thread until Tuesday at 6PM. There was no penalty regarding him not being able to bid while he is suspended from the thread. The GM who was suspended last year was still able to bid while he stayed away from the discussion thread and that penalty won't be made harsher just because of the culprit. First offense is a 48 hour discussion thread suspension. Next time he does anything like this he will basically cost himself participation in FA, whether it happens this year or any future season. Without the discussion thread, he can not tamper further with bids. That is the idea of the punishment.

I understand as far as the rule is currently written. But once free agency is over I would strongly urge to push for an amendment to the rule to include being banned from placing a bid for the duration of a suspension from the discussion thread. That would serve as much more of a deterrent from tampering attempts. I see no downside to amending it to include a suspension from bidding as well, in the future.

that is correct. But I assume the player on the FA list that you were winning changed the time he would sign which is how you know you aren't leading anymore. That means someone went above your bid by the threshold amount. Otherwise if it didn't change you don't get a you are the leading bid every time period so you would still be winning.

I’m curious.. what if there is no time listed for the player to sign on the FA list but you get a pm the first period saying you were leading and he will sign at a certain time and never get a pm after the second time period closes?

I agree I would talk about amending the penalty in the off-season. Tough to penalize him under the current structure. But I agree if every year it resets its pretty light. I think he knows he f'd up according to Bish and bish only has power to police it based on current rules.

But worth bringing up when we are up for new rule changes.

In that case I would def pm bish to clarify. If it was a legal bid it should be updated on the FA list along with the PM to you. If you got the PM I would def check with him because sounds like a potential miss hap which can happen with all the work bish is doing by himself.

I am not disagreeing with either of you. But the way the rule was written it is not something that can be changed now especially considering we had a GM suspended last year who was still able to place bids while away. And it really isn't supposed to reset each year but carry over since there is really no way anyone would ever get passed the second punishment during one offseason. If people feel it is to light though it can be changed after this FA ends. To me, it did its purpose as hoffa won't be able to post during the majority of FA and if he ever happened to do it again he would lose out on an entire FA.

Yeah Hoffa is blatantly tampering (as usual) and breaking the rules. There has to be a penalty for that.

Yeah. The ruling is pretty black and white. As outlined he must be suspended 48hrs.

Common sense indicates a player should not be able to place a bid during their suspension (or else it’s really not much of a punishment at all).

These types of shenanigans cannot be tolerated. It’s bad for our free agency process.

i'll be honest, i haven't been paying much attention. so there's a good chance i've violated some rules but had no clue i was doing it
