Maybe it would have been worth trying for Kooz?

OG has another 3 weeks before he can do on the court things. Add a week and we will possibly see him return IF everything goes perfectly March 10th give or take.

Randle has yet to be re-evaluated so there is NO CLUE when he can return or if he needs surgery. A month would be March 1st before he can do on the court things. Add a week and we could see him back around the same time as OG...IF everything goes perfectly.

iHart is a chronic Achilles issue. There is no set time table for a return and without Mitch, he will be asked to play heavy minutes again. IF everything goes perfectly we may seem him back before anyone but, for how long? Thibs doesn't care about his Achilles at all.

Mitch is 3 months removed from surgery on a broken ankle. There is no telling when he will be back or if he will be back at all, There is also the whole rusty out of game shape thing. So...4 months after surgery would be right around the same time the other guys get back IF everything goes perfectly.

DDV is the hammy issue which we haven't been updated on so, we don't know how long he is out or if he re-aggravates it again because Thibs is a moron who doesn't care about player health.

In the meantime we have to play about 10-15 games waiting to see them get back. Then we have to hope they get back into form sooner than later and STAY healthy.

Not sure where all the positive vibes are coming from about these injuries. We are about a month away from them returning IF everything goes perfectly.

According to Bondy Mitch will return to on court shooting right after the Break , so maybe if all goes well he comes back around the same time as OG and Randle...

According to Bondy....blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

I hope all goes well but, there are a lot of different injuries that have to work out in our favor. I refuse to be optimistic until there is reason to be. Thibs might add to the injury list before we get anyone back. That's just as likely if not MORE likely than everything working out.

Maybe we limp into the playoffs and go on a MIA run like last year. Maybe we never fully recover from these injuries at all. Maybe we should fire Thibs. Maybe maybe maybe. We shall see is where things are at in a few weeks. The last 2.5 weeks have crushed any high hopes I had for this season.

When Mitch comes back, I really hope Precious can get some quality minutes in. He provides a lot more than what Toppins provides in his limited minutes. He's been such a treat to watch out there.

It's been a small sample size but one thing that doesn't need a large sample size is the ability to see that Precious is much more versatile than Robinson.

Obviously he doesn't have the size but he makes up for that in his ability to guard multiple positions. Right now he can guard 3-5 pretty effectively.

And offensively he gives more to the team than Robinson ever would.

I hate to bring this back to trading Robinson but Mitchell Robinson will need to be traded this summer to improve the roster.

Precious can be a very adequate replacement. The man has been thrown to the fire and has played his ass off at a high usage. He deserves an opportunity.

I just won't get excited about injury news when Bondy or some YouTubers act like we got great news when we didn't. OG is the only player we got any real news about. Everything else is up in the air. Now we have DDV out. Thibs is gonna kill someone one day.

I think he stays, too, unless the Knicks just are not interested. Locker room just seems to have chemistry I'm not use to seeing on a Knicks team.

Mitch being out so long making people forgot how dominant he was defensively to start this season lol. If Mitch comes back right, precious will unfortunately be a 3rd stringer/situational piece.

Dudes the definition of fake it to you make it. It’s amazing watching him make a definitive statement then a sentence later add a bunch of qualifiers to make it meaningless.

randle really played like a wing at an elite level in 2021. that was an amazing time to watch. but it is good to see him go back to his roots to be even more effective

This isn’t complicated…

When Mitch comes back he is the starting C.

iHart comes off the bench but they receive equal time or you can just ride whoever is having the better game.

Precious becomes a backup PF and can still be effective in limited mins. It’s not like Randle should be playing 36-38 mins anyway, coming off this type of shoulder injury. He should be capped at around 32 mins. Leaving a solid 16 mins for Precious to cause defensive havoc and crash the boards.

Bogi becomes your backup 3. JHart becomes backup 2.

The competition is between Deuce and Burks for who becomes the backup point when everyone is healthy.

well...thibs likes to go 9 deep so someone else might be out of the rotation. it might be og is the backup 4. but i think you're right about who's gonna play where. i love what precious is doing. ihart is a good backup who has filled in admirably with mitch out. here's the reality. when mitch was healthy we had a top 10 defense. after he got hurt we had the worst defense in the league until we traded for og. og has now missed 9 games and we've had the 22nd worst defense since he's been out. and in the last 5 we've had the 29th worst defense. 2nd to last. thibs is a defense first coach so the main guys who contribute most to the team's defense are gonna play a lot. i think as far as precious, burks, duece it might depend on how we match up with whoever we're playing and what the teams needs.

agreed. at full strength, precious, deuce, and MJ become your situational back end of the rotation. that's a good situation to be in. that rotation wins games.

and, because life happens, the situational rotation guys will also have opportunities to log big minutes if/when the mainstays need time off.
RIP magnumt

thanks for everything, thibs.
