I know someone personally that roots strictly for KD and someone else that roots for LeBron, no matter what team they’re on. I chalk it up to a cultural fanhood difference.
It drives people crazy because they’ll root for players like we root for teams. We saw it with the Jeremy Lin fans. We even had a Nate Robinson fan that left with him. An Eddy Curry fan that challenged 2010 to a street fight, and Jamal Crawford had a few stans that wanted to go to war for him.
Having said that, melo isn’t one of those. I’ve seen him stick around after his dudes left. He’ll be back in the fold by the start of the season

whichin theory makes him a great fit here offensively with OG and Mikal are +40% 3 point shooters from the corner. We are going to be a tough **** matchup with Brunson putting pressure in the mid range and rim with his floater.
MIkal and KAT are also pretty good in the mid range as well. OG wasn't half bad with his middy last year as well. That plays up in the playoffs when teams try to take away your strength and give up mid ranges for free.
I don't know why this post gave me hope after not loving the trade. I still have no idea how we will protect the rim but maybe I am being too pessimistic.
Speaking of rim protection does anyone know why opponents shot 66% at the rim against Mitch in the regular season and 68% in the playoffs? Those are terrible numbers for a defensive big. I know his numbers outside of rebounding have decreased over the last few years from field goal percentage to free throw percentage but is he no longer the rim protector we think he is?
He has gained weight and is less explosive but is the idea he is a great rim protector just in our heads or is something being missed in those numbers? I don't follow defensive metrics but I thought all of them favored him.
Small sample/regression. His career average is holding opponents to -6. His bad streak last year brought him to -6.1% over the last 3 years combined. He's had great half seasons, and now a bad half season.

Sixers had a championship-level team, only with Embiid, of course. Trash without him.
With him for half the season, they were 31-8; They won 80% of their games .....that's good for 65 win pace with him. 1-1 vs the Celts with Embiid last season. They were the No. 7 seed nobody wanted any part of. They gave New York all they could handle. As Josh Hart put it, “Teams were ducking [the Sixers] for a reason.”
Knicks only won because of Brunson's greatness, OG's elite play, the overall team's spirit, and they didn't have the curse of that low IQ cancer Randle holding them back on the biggest stage.
They lost but it was natural death in the playoffs, not bc we didn’t have Randle. I respect the respect fans are showing him but as a basketball move, there won’t be much to miss.
Showing Julius more respect became something of a rising above for Knicks fans, that’s fine, but there were just too many holes in Randle’s game.

Pretty stoked to see this team with KAT. I was anti-KAT all along, but he's here and I'm realizing that as much as I appreciated Randle and what he did here, I wasn't that upset when he was dealt. KAT could be really awesome for us

I won’t ever understand homers. You was an anti KAT fan but you switching up and acting like you never called him soft when we got receipts. Y’all can’t stand on anything y’all say anymore. Getting soft like ya man’s KAT.
I root for the Knicks and this is a Knicks forum. No non-Knicks matter. Randle’s pouting azz included.

If KAT is the five then Precious is the 4..... and you keep Hart on the bench to come in and wreck stuff.
We got no rim protection tho
Regardless, we're not going to have that until Mitch comes back. Honestly, Rim protection is a two letter word that basically explains why I think those NOP rumors are not true.

i'm just thinking who's the first sub, who's the second sub -- what's the 2nd unit?
at all times you can have 2-3 of the 5 main starters rolling with the 2nd unit.
this team can definitely flirt with 60 wins.

Re: KAT To The Knicks Part 2
If we were to acquire Herb Jones for Mitch and some picks, we would be able to hide some of KAT’s defensive shortcomings with how strong our perimeter defense would be…
Nobody would be getting to the rim with 3 of Herb/Mikal/OG/Duece/Hart on the court at all times..

It's weird to flex that you're going to like someone that you previously thought was a wack soft loser because they have a Knicks jersey on.
So you have no ability to think rationally when a player wears your teams' jersey?
Your basketball opinion changes because they switched a jersey?
You're openly admitting your arguments aren't based in actual facts but rather "I'm a Knicks fan!" as if anyone else isn't or as if you happen to be a better fan for lapping up every transaction the team makes.
