IDK if anyone posted this but it's a good thread. Also the Hart clips show why we not a 5 out offense exactly. Not truly.

He looks slow… McBride is the better bet. I would trade Mitch and McBride plus two picks for Kessler and Sexton though
Looks like he gained some weight too....
I think I read a Jazz fan say he bulked up a lot over the summer. Might have over done it a bit like that year Mitch came in too ripped and had to slim down as the season progressed.
…or that could just be a couple tired plays from a dude still getting into game shape during training camp…

If the Pacers are a middle-of-the-pack team what are the Odds they'd flip us Myles Turner? Turner is CAA and on an expiring deal.
Do we still have the tax payer MLE to use or nah? I'd hate to lose Deuce...
Can still play 5 out and adds another rim protector/shot blocker to pair with KAT
Turner 19.9mil
Mitch 14.3 mil
Deuce 4.7 mil
Dadiet 1.8 mil
C: Turner/KAT
PF: KAT/Precious/OG
SF: OG/Hart/Mikal
SG: Mikal/Hart/Shamet
PG: Brunson/Payne/Kolek
I'd probably rather keep Mitch and Deuce tbh. Ignore me

Mitch is a beast, we forget last year before OG he had us as a top defensive team by himself.
Mitch will never be healthy again.
There's a reason the Knicks pulled the trigger on the trade.
Kudos to MSG's Ministry of Disinformation, that everyone thinks he's just "taking his time getting healthy"
His feet and knees are wheatina. He's done. Too much fried possum and PBR, not enough training.

I think they want to keep that team rolling and can't see them trading Turner to us.

CP shows a crazy graph about the "Best jump-shot making bigs" in his reaction video to the Club Shay Shay interview.
The pattern is interesting and hard to ignore, and one of the reasons people like NoDope and I like the risk the Knicks took.

Easily. If KAT stays healthy as a big man, this trade was another masterpiece by Leon. KAT is just better than Randle at any possible basketball aspect. And of course character wise and off the court as well. Just so happy to have him on this team. He can score from anywhere and is a monster on the glass as well. Can't wait to see him with Mitch upfront. An OG-KAT-Mitch frontcourt is going to hammer opposing teams in so many regards.....

Re: KAT to Knicks Part 3
I am positively surprised with KAT’s performance. The little time I watched him in Minnesota, he looked passive to me. I wasn’t worried about what we gave up but his big salary. I was wrong. Dude has excellent handle. He has no problem defending centers. His three ball is smooth but he can also do things with the ball. It’s been great. Easily the best trade of recent Knick history.

I think that’s a good trade. I’d also rather keep McBride, but if Robinson creates any kind of problem, I’d pull the trigger on this one. They would have to include two fillers though.

Re: KAT to Knicks Part 3
I would love to have Turner in NY but I highly doubt a deal would be possible. I think the Pacers will make him a very good offer and extend him---they can't afford to lose him really.
On the other side Turner is a guy the Knicks wanted to trade for 2 years ago (like OG and KAT etc.) so they may just get it done somehow.

Re: KAT to Knicks Part 3
KAT shooting 55/44/84 without being a ballstopper versus Randle at 47/31/78 playing lots of iso ball is just an enormous shift in efficiency and flow. KAT allows Jalen to do what he does without them needing to take turns dominating the ball; Towns knows he'll get his looks and can play off of Jalen. And by the way, capable of leading the league in rebounds when we needed it most. If nothing else changed, we would have won the trade easily.
We do miss having a player like DDV, but we miss the version he was for us shooting 40% from 3, and not the version he has been with Minny. Randle does not seem to have shifted in attitude in a new environment and on a contract year; its more of the same with bad body language, but he seems to have taken a step back as a rebounder (albeit some of that the Gobert effect that helped keep Towns rebounds down as well). All of that together, getting a top 20 player that fits the roster for a guy that with an awkward contract situation and an awkward fit is an absolute steal to me. KAT's salary and the resulting lack of roster flexibility with the new CBA rules is an enormous consideration, but, I would do the trade 10 times out of 10.

Just saw this thread and your post. Agreed 1000%
I just posted this on the post game thread but it can't be overstated just how dramatic the KAT effect has been for this team.
Some info from another board:
Towns' efficiency has been
nothing short of awesome. 24.9 PPG on 16.3 FGA leading to a true shooting mark of .662 which is a monstrous mark.
"True Shooting Add" is a cool measure on basektball-reference that basically puts a points value on how much better than average a scorer has been based on their TS% for the number of shot attempts they've taken.
Towns: 105.6 TS Add (leads league)
Jokic: 105.0
Shai: 101.4
Those are the top 3 in the league this year and the only ones above the 100 mark so far. Typically, 100+ is a very good number for an entire season. Towns getting there through 32 games is an insane accomplishment that speaks to just how ridiculously efficient he's been. Jokic/SGA finished top 2 in the MVP last year and are poised to repeat that placement again this year based on the current MVP betting odds. And yet Towns is right there with them and actually slightly ahead in terms of raw scoring value added so far.
Hate to **** on the guy, but Julius Randle's TS Add was -263.0 for the Knicks in 330 games. His best mark with the Knicks was when he made All-NBA 3rd team in 2023 with a mark of -0.3 in 77 games... so yea, even in his very best Knicks years he was still league average efficiency despite the strong volume scoring.
And the way Towns does it without needing the ball in his hands also adds another layer to his overall offensive value.
Towns has averaged 2.1 minutes with the ball in his hands per game this year (Time of Possession). That's a very low mark for such an elite offensive force. Again, comparing that with Randle as a Knick.
2024: 3.8 TOP
2023: 3.5
2022: 4.1
2021: 4.7
2020: 3.2
Nothing too crazy in terms of ball-dominance, but definitely significantly higher than how Towns has been used this year.
So yea, this isn't a groundbreaking post. Towns is significantly more efficient than Randle was and needs the ball in his hands far less to make his impact felt. But just thought it would help to put actual numbers to back that up.
I think OKC is the best team in the league this year. I think when they get both Holmgren/IHart healthy at the same time, they'll be almost impossible to beat outside of lack of experience. Boston also still deserves to be considered the favorites in the East due to all they've done this year and in recent years. The Cavs are playing with a level of cohesiveness that you only see every few years, so they're a worthy contender too. But the Knicks are right there with those teams. Should make for a really fun playoffs this year, at least in the East.
