it is because you probably consider Randle a big and Zion a big...and I will tell your right now your defense would be way worse with Randle or Zion at the 5 than OG at the 5. If you can defend the position I don't care what they call you big or not big.
That is why its semantics.
Randle and Zion can rebound. OG can't. Randle was primarily a C before backing up Brook Lopez and Zion regularly plays C because of his strength and verticality. OG ain't play a minute at C in his life.
OG has actually guarded Embiid and Jokic at times. So maybe not a minute of "center" on offense but he surely has switched and played the 5 on defense before.
And when has Zion ever been considered a good rebounder? Also rebounding is just one thing its all about the ability help protect the rim.
Also that is why you have Josh Hart. He provides rebounding at the guard/wing position that no team has.
