The days of teams being lead by multiple stars is dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You need 1star and multiple other 3&d ball handlers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s the way to go moving forward!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

the issue I would have with that trade is who is your #2 option behind brunson?

I think Murphy can definitely blossom into that role for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude is a future all star for sure imo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also think Mikal is going to have a massive bounce back season once he fixes his Jumper in the offseason!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think Murphy has enough shot creation in his game to be counted on as a #2 option with a team with championship aspirations.

Also you would relying on Mitch a ton to stay healthy. Its tough to replace 24-12

So what does the framework of a deal for Giannis look like to where both sides walk away happy?

Two things:

-I think we need a ball handling guard next to Brunson that can defend.

-Mitch and Mikal are expiring contracts which probably look attractive to Milwaukee.

I wonder if NY, MIL, PHX, and MIN can construct a 4 team deal to get what everyone wants?

There's going to be so much chatter and so much movement this off-season. EAST is wide open with the Tatum injury and the WEST is a bloodbath so teams want to continue to add talent and then there will be tons of cap maneuvering to avoid aprons, etc. Wild!

Until the Celtics cooked that combination like the Pacers did when we had 2 defensively deficient players on the floor.

Calisle literally followed the blueprint from the Celtics' series, and it was evident in Game 1 where Nesmith got in the zone from the 3 point line, where he would be in the corner and run off screens the same way Derrick White did whenever KAT was on that side of the court for an open 3 pointer.

KAT for Giannis would be great but I don’t want to give away 21/11 playoff averages for KD. People are quick to dismiss after a bad playoff loss but this team beat Boston who just won a championship last year. We were ahead 3-1 when their best player was healthy so don’t give me the injured excuse.

That’s true but I think we need to get more athletic and better defensively!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And this trade allows us to do that while not losing the ability to shoot and space the floor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No brainer imo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

KD might be the most realistic option.

Bane is arguably a better overall and well rounded scorer than either OG or Bridges.

JJJ averaged 22.2pts a game last year.

Offense should be absolutely explosive. And with better defense converting to offense it might be better than last years

KAT for Giannis is a no brainer because you go from a very negative defender to a hugely positive one who also is a better overall scorer than KAT too.

Giannis/Kuzma for KAT/Bridges works very close salary wise. If they arent going full rebuild thats a very good tandem to get.

For me the framework is KAT going to a 3rd team who need either a talent upgrade or offense upgrade. Then they send their package to Milwaukee and the Knicks sweeten that pot a bit for Milwaukee (Hello Deuce McBride and our only tradeable 1st  )

Some semi-obvious teams I've thought of would be:

Magic- Franz may be a nice piece to get back for Milwaukee and they desperately need an offensive upgrade
Houston- Plenty of young players and mid tier contracts to work with/ number 10 pick as well. Desperately need offense. May look at KAT as an upgrade on Sengun.
Detroit- Some interesting young pieces outside of Cade. Need more talent and KAT provides much needed spacing for Cade to operate. Similar dynamic to Brunson and KAT.
Toronto- Glut of wings. Need better roster distribution and shooting

Some sneaky teams that may have a seemingly smaller need for KAT but probably need to make a move one way or another:

Clippers- Secretly a very treadmilly team right now. Kawhi, Harden and Powell is a pretty old core to be working with. Zubac took another step this season but he's really their only young-ish impact player. I'd be looking at them as a team who could shake it up out of nowhere.

Miami- Maybe they see KAT and Bam as an elite frontcourt? Can't say I would disagree. Herro young all-star back to Milwaukee (he's from the area FWIW). Long shot especially with Pat the Rat in charge but crazier things have happened.

Memphis - Feels like anything can happen here. Maybe not in a Giannis trade but a team that is in flux and needs a shakeup.

Overall, I think the Knicks don't need to panic here and one thing I'll say about Leon is he generally avoids the panic move. (Generally doing some heavy lifting here given what we gave up for Bridges but I think that move was well-intentioned). Either way I think he's had a good feel about when to make major changes and when minor adjustments are needed. It goes without saying that if Giannis wants to come to your team you need to explore every scenario to make that happen but, I wouldn't necessarily be upset if the Knicks look to make smaller upgrades on the margins and banked on internal development adding more depth and quality to the team next year...

I think Murphy has second option upside. If they add DDV in like a 4 team trade that would give us a very good bench with DDV and Hart. I still don’t think they move Murphy and Jones. One of them would have to be NOP starting SF, but Murphy is a legit good pick up for KAT. Especially with his contract being set for 4 years. It makes it easier to extend Bridge and Mitch now.

From Knicks reddit, which makes this place seem docile

As of right now the Knicks will have access to the Taxpayer Mid Level Exception. Who can they sign with that to strengthen the bench?
The Taxpayer Mid Level Exception is currently at 5,685,000 for the 2025-26 season

The Knicks Total Team Salary: 195.2 million (This number assumes they accept Hukporti’s team option and decline PJ Tuckers)

Knicks Guaranteed Contracts for Reference:

G

Brunson McBride Kolek Bridges

F

OG Hart Dadiet

C

KAT Robinson Hukporti****

****Hukporti is not guaranteed, he is on a team option but I’m going to assume they accept it is cheap at 1.9 million

I keep going back to JJJ/Bane for KAT/Bridges . It makes sense for both sides for so many reasons.

Pretty good trade... Mitch / JJJ / OG / Bane / Brunson... seems like a nice fit one both ends. I wonder what the Grizz are going to do... so many failed seasons for them in recent years.

What about Kat in place of Giannis. What could Knicks get back?

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45113195/giannis-trade-tiers-every-nba-team-offer-bucks

The Raptors have their own first-round pick in every draft through 2032 and are allowed to trade up to five first-round picks, including their lottery pick in June. Toronto has seven future second-round picks available.

So they definitely can do a Mikal type of picks offer for Giannis plus adding Barnes to the deal
