Someone tell me if this is true? I read that signing JR was Dolan's decision, not Grunwald's.

I just think Dolan is a terrible judge of character.

Wouldn't come off as a shock to me

Can't wait until JR gets a 4 year extension with the 4th year being a player option

This is a fairly good analysis, and could be quite accurate.

I am quite certain Dolan is extremely insecure. He's got money and power. But inside he's still a very "small" man.

Clearly he's prone to grudges. Unless you kiss his butt, he will never promote you.

That's how pathetic Dolan is, even fans of a team owned by MLSE (Home of the Toronto Maple Leafs!) find him to be a joke.

dolan will soon ship out shump and next year's only first round pick to the clippers for grant hill! he will then have the legacy of one of the oldest teams in the nba to make the 7th seed, and start a new streak of consecutive playoff losses! nice one dolan!

Someone here said this before the Lin decision was final -- the fact that the Knicks brought back former players like Felton, Camby, Thomas -- maybe that really was a sign of the team trying to soften the blow of losing Lin.

They're mistaken if that was part of their strategy.

I was also wondering what would have happened if some team came around and offered JR $4M a season -- he would have left the Knicks for the higher paycheck, undoubtedly, and then would the Knicks have let Lin go? I know they're not the same position, nor do they fill the same needs. But, if we had lost JR and Fields, we would have been very thin in the backcourt and they might have thought there was no choice but to match Lin.

Same with Felton -- what if he just had been signed or wasn't available?

Instead we're stuck with JR and Felton. Just unbelievable. And JR will get paid by us next off-season for a substantial amount so the Knicks are stuck with these two bums for the foreseeable future. Just unacceptable. Felton and JR will be on bad long-term contracts. Whether he's in the background pulling the strings or not, the ghost of Isiah lives.

Man I'm still depressed about this. I feel like it's going to take a hell of a start to the season for me to get over this (like at least 14-6 over the first 20 games).

The hardest part is thinking back to Linsanity and remembering how it made me feel. Remembering feeling that I was part of something special and that he was going to stay with us for the next 10 years. I doubt we'll ever see something like that again on the basketball court in our lifetimes.

We're riding the step-back jumper chuck all the way to the championship baby!

But JR has one of the lowest turnover rates for a guard because he shoots within 4 seconds of getting the ball. Truthfully, he's just a poor man's Melo. Similar games. They both have a right to be jealous of Lin getting all that money because they've earned their damn stripes.

So ugly, so depressing, so not worth it.

And some Knick fans will just say: "oh well, time to move on- I bleed orange and blue"

No F**k the Knicks , F**k Dolan and F**k whoever else made the dumbest "non move" in Knick history!

"The Knicks are all in" with who?! Felton?!?! Dumb a** JR, one way Amare?! and I can't lead men and get my head out of my a** Melo?! They really believe they have a chance against Miami? Boy, Pat Riley must be shaking his head boy...They really believe they have a chance against Miami? A team that not only has leaders who play TWO ways- they use their brains! I cut Melo some slack for not telling the Knicks to keep there assets -worst case if Denver is asking for too much- he'll sign as a free agent. Yet, again, he proved his lack of foresight. Foresight that Lebron, Bosh and Wade had to take less and foresight to recognize that if he truly recognized Lin's talent and promise (as he claims)he should have made it clear as the apparent leader of this team that he will be supported and he wanted him here. And CLEARLY he didn't DO THAT with JR behaving like a scumbag! Does anyone remember last year when Melo scolded JR on the court and JR went running to him like that little brother who "didn't do anything wrong" ? He listens to Melo and if Melo would have told him Lin is "with us" you wouldn't see JR act like a reckless scumbag...

The worse thing that happened this off season is the way Lin was treated by those two! they made it CLEAR for me! This is why I wont root for this team until this group and Dolan are GONE!

Great post, the first sentence get's me irritated the most. BUT I don't think Carmelo deserves alot of the blame here. I don't believe Carmelo was truly jealous of Lin. I don't believe that Carmelo can change JR's dumbass ways[I'll get to him in a bit]. I don't believe that Carmelo was dogging it when MDA was there, I believe he plagued by injury throughout the season. I believe that this year, Carmelo can be a top 5 player in the NBA. With that being said He's below average on defense

STAT is questionable to do anything at this point, it seems everything is falling around him. His brother dies, he's no longer cared for/adored like he was by Knick fans, he's not considered a superstar anymore, he's not elite, by all accounts he's done. But, there's many reports that he's been working every day this offseason. I really, really, really hope he proves me wrong. Without him being even a shell of the 2010 STAT, we have a 0% shot of winning two games vs Miami

Felton is a huge question mark. I do believe he wants to be a Knick, and wants to retire one. However, do I believe he has bigger upside than Lin?Do I believe he'll go back to being the 17/9 Felton?Do I believe he has a good work ethic?**** no, I bet while golfing with Dolan and JR, Dolan told him not to worry about it

I've lost all my hope in Kidd, what a **** idiot. I thought he put those issues behind him. It'll take a really really productive year and bounceback from him to change my mind on him. And THIS was our mentor for Lin everyone!

Shumpert is one of four people on this roster that I actually like[Melo, Chandler, Novak]. Really hope Dolan just doesn't send him away too like a **** idiot. Hopefully he comes back strong from injury

Jamal White is a glorified dunker and that's that. A poor mans Gerald Green is his ceiling

Copeland, alot of question marks. Doubt he'll be a productive rotation player. Probably worse than Jeffries or Jorts

Pablo, I do believe he'll have a decent season. Poor mans Rondo, and that's not anything to be ashamed of. Until then though, another question mark

Chandler, I don't need to give my opinion on him. Anyone who dislikes Chandler and is a Knicks fan is an idiot

Camby is the only offseason move we made this year that I like. Really happy he came back, good for 20 mins at a high level when Chandler rests

I like Thomas too, but it's not a move we should've made. He's such an offensive liability at this point, and he isn't mobile either. Our front court besides Chandler and Melo are either ancient or unproven

Novak, Love that guy too. Sure he's a one way player, but he's very good at that one way. Hope Felton/Pablo/Kidd/whoever find him open like Lin did

Last but not least, JR Smith. I hate everything this idiot stands for, I hate his game, I hate his actions, it's just a joke. And no, I'm not hating on the "thug" persona. One of my favorite players ever was Iverson, S-Jax has the thug persona too and Timmy D called him the "ultimate teammate", Metta has turned into an even bigger nut on twitter but he was[along with Gasol and Kobe's rebounding in the fourth] the reason why they won in 2010. Metta may be a nut, but I don't see him taking pictures of girls bent down on twitter. I don't see him taking random pictures of girls barefoot. I don't see him RTing women exposing themselves when he has nothing to do with them. I don't see him golfing with "Mr.Buss". I don't see him shooting 31% in the playoffs and being a black hole. I can say five positive things about JR
1. Every 10 games when he gets in a "groove", he can shoot and score from anywhere on the court
2. He knows how to suck up
3. He tries on defense, not an above average defender though
4. He'd look good in a gang
5. He'll be off this team soon until Dolan decides to give him a huge contract extension

JR Smith and Paul Pierce are the only current NBA players I dislike, **** them both. I don't expect anything less than a 4-5 seed this year and a first round exit. It's pathetic. Our roster outside of 3-4 players is full of question marks and idiots. Thanks Dolan, although I doubt you even make the decisions. King Isiah probably still does.

33 years. That's how long Knicks fans have before little Jimmy is on some form of life support. This franchise has been a laughing-stock. There aren't any more excuses. Lin was a gift, a asset that they got for next to nothing, and in the grand scheme of things would have cost them nothing to keep. The public leaks and player bickering over Lin's contract was unlike anything I have ever seen. Perhaps #LittleJimmyBoy will be forced to leave when a real scandal hits MSG--you know it's coming. This non-move was an example of what happens when a person who was born into money and has little real business sense takes over the reign of a sports franchise. 33 years. By that time hopefully our children and the fans on this board will still be young enough to enjoy a championship, and the days of watching Ewing labor up and down the court, Carmelo take on 5 players at once and take 20 seconds off the clock, and Clarence Witherspoon jump 6 inches for a rebound will be a distant memory.

33 years.

Although I have to say, ripping into Dolan/this franchise is easing the pain a bit

Looking at that picture and his obsession with IT, I think deeply repressed might be a stretch. Otherwise, spot on.

Return to New York Knicks
