The Magic will receive a second round pick from the Nuggets in the Dwight Howard trade that is a 2013 Warriors pick, source tells Y! Sports.

now it makes sense

For what it's worth (and it's not worth that much), that's one of the picks they received from the Knicks...

I don't quite get the Denver involvement in this deal - but I don't see Igodala as an upgrade over Affalo, at least offensively. Not quite sure what Denver GM is doing here...

iggy only has 2 years left on his deal, arron has 4 years left. they probably just had buyer's remorse the way they did with nene.

Denver loses a ton of scoring with Afflalo and Harrington gone. Of their starting 5, only Gallo & Lawson can be considered scorers. The rest are defensive/hustle players (Iggy, Farried, McGee). Given their scoring deficiencies, I could see Gallo getting a D'Antoni-like green light. I could also see Wilson Chandler being a 6MOY candidate.

I think I do.

It's clear that the Nuggets can score (with George Karl's "more effective than Mike D'Antoni's moar 3's" attack offense). What they can't do real well is stop the other team from scoring. With Igoudala and McGee they get two guys that can play attack style (both are great athletes) but who can also be very disruptive on defense. Igoudala also brings veteran experience and leadership that the Nuggets kinda are lacking right now. The Nuggets are better after this trade than before...I like it for them. Afflalo is a good, not great player and I don't see him ever being an All-Star. They get an All-Star here. Igoudala is also a better passer and ball handler which should work well for Karl's system. If it was D'Antoni coaching the team then sure, Igoudala's inability to shoot from 3 would be a problem, but George Karl's offense stresses attacking the basket more and Igoudala fits that style.

I'm happy for Nash. He deserves a ring. But I honestly never saw Howard as much of an upgrade over Bynum. This a great trade for Philly. They get a beast in the middle and expect Evan Turner to replace a lot of what Iguadala gave them.

The Atlantic is going be very competitive. Every team is good minus Toronto.

denver's first priority is not winning, it's keeping payroll low. they just paid mcgee. they have to pay lawson. they have to pay moz next year. then farried eventually. 2 years from now they let iggy comes off their books. to me this is about managing the salary cap.

@KBergCBS points out that if #Lakers keep Gasol and re-sign #D12 to max deal, they'd owe $92M to 6 players in 13-14. Luxury tax hell. #NBA

Another reason to think it will be a 1 year window for this group.

I would imagine that's it. Free Gallo and Moar Chandler. Makes sense. If you're going to give them those contracts you should expect them to contribute. Gallinari is clearly better offensively than he is in any other area. Chandler should be expected to do more than he has. But the thing is while Afflalo and Harrington were among their better offensive players, neither were no.1 options...which really is the biggest problem with the Nuggets. So not like they traded their no.1 option...that's probably Gallinari now (who really is more of a no.2 option type).

for arguments sake, let's say this deal falls apart... would there be any accountability on the media for reporting, yet again, that Dwight has been traded officially (first time was to NJ)?

Where's the professionalism?
