THJr is Gerald Greene.

This will always be a bad signing. This was supposed to be a rebuilding team. For some reason the FO felt rushed to sign him. If you were patient, you probably would have missed out on him. But so what? It's THjr. Players like him come along a lot, and I am willing to bet there will be better free agents for less money in the next 2-3 years.
"You are going to have to improve a lot defensively", that didn't work on Amar'e, nor will it for anybody else who has played years of poor defense. Not to mention, this signing was made right after Phil was fired and before Perry was hired.... Which just doesn't make sense.

It is up there with the Noah contract. You can't expect to have 2 of the worst contracts in the nba and not have issues in the future.
This organization is a joke. I really hope Perry finally is the gm that knows what he is doing. So far he hasn't done anything stupid so so far so good.

Three games in and this THJr signing is a complete and unmitigated disaster...this one will hang over the franchise for a long time. Kid is a bust.

It is easy to tell that he is pressing but even so his play has been awful. He looks scared and unsure and that wont ever translate to playing well. Possibly another bust signing on our hands.

Re: OFFICIAL: Welcome BACK to New York THJr (4/71m)
I mainly stayed away from the board for the last two months because I thought I didn't have a whole lot of positive things to say about the current state of the knicks. I made my point about the Hardaway signing being among the absolute worst in the league (top 10 worst contracts). As a long time lurker I also saw a couple guys getting suspended over being overly negative, and guys getting attacked by some posters over trashing the Hardaway signing (calling it trolling etc.)---I personally do not think it is worth anyone's while to repeat the same old negative **** over and over again so I stayed away, but let me say this today:
1.I have never felt as negative about any Knicks POBO as I do about Steve Mills. In my opinion Mills is among the absolute worst presidents in the game today. I even remember Larry Brown once saying the guy has no clue about basketball. Couple that with Dolan who is among the worst owners in basketball and you have a terrible duo at the helm.
2.It still boggles my mind how any sane person could sign Hardaway to a 4year/70mill. contract. Especially considering the fact that there was zero pressure from fans or media to retool quickly. Everyone agreed that the Knicks should tank as they need another high lottery pick. It just literally makes zero sense to overpay for Hardaway at that point. A completely idiotic move. Or as Colin Howerd said "The knicks are once again the NBA idiots."
3.A 25 year old may not be a completely finished product, but like 80-90% there. How many trash defenders in their first 4 seasons turned into good defenders later on? I'm sure there are some but not too many.
4.Unfortunately Perry , in the introductory press conference said that he applauded the move---which does not speak for his basketball mind either. Hardaway is a 8th man on a good team. The contracts of Noah and Hardaway will cripple the Knicks during the next 3 seasons, making virtually a strong free agent signing impossible.
That all being said , I hope Hardaway improves his play so that it is not as terrible as it looks today....however there is not much to be hopeful about unfortunaly. I have zero confidence in the front office.
I'll be back to my self imposed exile quickly. On the bright side, it seems as if there is zero chance that Hardaway may hurt our draft position. Not much of a consolation but as long as Mills sticks around here, I don't see much positive things coming our way.

Again, like I keep telling people, you're judging a player who is known to be streaky off of a cold stretch
We know who THJ is. He's a streak shooter. He'll have these stretches, then he'll have hot stretches. He had multiple 3 game streaks in ATL where he shot 20%, but he was average efficiency over the course of the year
BaF Lakers:
Nikola Topic/Kasparas Jakucionis
VJ Edgecombe/Jrue Holiday
Shaedon Sharpe/Cedric Coward
Kyle Filipowski/Collin Murray-Boyles
Alex Sarr/Clint Capela
Bench: Malcolm Brogdon/Hansen Yang/Rocco Zikarsky/RJ Luis Jr.

The point is he is not worth 70 milion nor is he worth capping us out and keeping us out of contention for top free agents.
That is what everyone is pissed about.
But no when we say this we are negative. Unless we say "oh he is streaky he will play into his contract" we are trolls. GTFO.
There is no sugar coating this. This is a horrible signing.
