Randle and #10 is an overpay for Fox and I don’t think the “new” team is better than the team we have now.

Yeah, Knicks fans are often very emotional. Let's for a second understand what we have here. We have an established allstar who brought his team to the playoffs but is now underperforming and we are upset about it. The Kings have a young player who's never won before or gotten close to the playoffs.......who is underperformed.

Idk why we often assume that other players on underperformed teams are much better than our own and this goes for Christian Wood as well. I mean, if everyone is OK with guys who simply put up stats on bad teams then why trade Julius in the first place. What makes us think that other players on teams who are underperforming are way better than ours players who are underperformed.

And hey, it definitely could be the fit, playstyle and all that stuff. I'd love to get Fox but does anybody even know why Fox is being made available or why the Kings don't perform. Well for one Fox doesn't play any defense. He ranks in the bottom 5 of defensive guards so just be careful when assigning value to other players. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. While you now have what you believe is a PG who will get the best of others (well wait, is that's what's happening with the Kings cuz I remember them losing allot) what you also get is poor defense on a team who's coach wants everything to start and finish with defense. How do we even know that Thibs will allow Fox to be Fox?

My point isn't to bash Fox or say don't trade for him using Julius. I'm only saying it's not like it's this winning allstar where I feel he has anymore value than Julius. In fact I think Julius' value should be higher. To me maybe Sacramento should be parting with picks

We have different definitions of the word established.Making the all star team 1 year and then playing like a scrub in the playoffs that same year is not what I would call established, I’d call that a fluke, especially when his success came with no fans in attendance. If that trade is available you jump on it.
This guy melts under pressure, a PF that can’t dribble and thinks he’s a point guard.

Again, try to pretend you're not a fan of the team in the biggest market with the biggest mixeoscope. You're the GM, you have to sell this asset and every GM with a player to trade knows the flaws of thier own player. You as the Knicks GM will inherit those strengths and weaknesses. Even if last yr never happened, from a pure statistical standpoint Randle is a talent. The fact that the team was trending to make the playoffs got him an allstar selection in addition to his statistical output......regardless of whether or not you think that it was empty.

Compared to....Fox who's never been in the position Julius was last yr and even never taking into account Randles "fluke year" is right on par.

Essentially what I'm saying is I'm not trying to fool the Clippers to give me Kuwhi Leonard here. I'm asking the Kings to give up a young player who technical hasn't won anything himself who one can argue puts up empty stats himself while his backup is starting to outperform him. In a tiny market where nobody gaf. And I fully plan on separating myself from my anger that on our team WITH HIGHER STANDARDS that my best player is underperforming albeit with amazing counting stat production.

Your right to a degree, and I don't think the Knicks would have to add in the scenario. Randle has more accomplishment, though Fox is younger. The rebuilding Kings sure wouldnt be adding any picks for Randle though.

Many Kings fans feel the same way about Fox as it appears Knick fans do Randle. Which might mean both GMs would have trepidations about the other player.

Would you trade Fournier for Gary Harris? Harris is a better defender, younger, and has an expiring contract.

Possibly, they need veteran leadership. Plus no free agents are coming to Orlando. Harris is playing for another contract and Thibs would probably maximize his potential the rest of this season. I doubt he re-signs in Orlando.

Seems like a win for both teams.

My trade idea

Trade Randle to the Spurs for Derrick White and Josh Primo

1) Spurs do it because Randle can be there long term PF. Thaddeus Young has already requested a trade and isn’t likely re-signing

2) They have a first option in Dejuante Murray who hopefully Randle could be the second option too,

Knicks do it because

1) Derrick White would fix their PG issue, especially guarding point of attack

2) Derrick has enough size and experience playing off ball he works alongside Rose, Kemba, and IQ

3) Primo has upside, and is buried in San Antonio’s SG depth chart, and adds to the Knicks youth core. Plus his Canadian Basketball means he should get along with RJ.

The only real issue with the trade is San Antonio plays a pass heavy system and Randle is so damn ball dominant. He has the ability to pass more, it’s his mind set that would decide if he could succeed there. My dream scenario is a added pick swap, but that would be too good :noway:

Long term what this trade would do is allow the Knicks starters to play more like their bench as a faster full court transition offense. We would be stuck with Fournier, but maybe he could build his value back up.

Hey if you're willing to take on a bad contract, be my guest. I'm positive Orlando fans are glad you're not their GM though.

How about Randle and Q for Brunson and removal of protection.

Yeah so there's the worst of it and the best of it right? Randle is ball dominant but it's even more enabled by Thibs overreliance on hero ball. That fear can be mitigated by Pop and his stature as a coach. I've seen players with all manner of reputation figure it out under him.

The best of it is that Randle is a good passer. I hate the platform in terms of him being a play initiator but in that role he passes. Nobody can really take that away from him. I think for Pop it's still a good tool in his shed and again speaking to my first thought he should stamp out the negatives of it.

Then again, how long is Pop sticking around?

What is it with knick fans and thier love of Brunson. I don't get it. He's the PG who isn't the PG of his own team. If anything he fits without a Randle trade. Thibs probably salivating to trade Kemba for him right now cuz he rather double down on feeding Randle in the post.

I wouldn't trade Q for him straight up, why would you trade Randle and Q for him .

The dude performs in a big way. Are you watching? He's limited a little to the eye test sure but he's their second best player.

In theory they would probably take that risk, because if it works they come out stronger with a duo of Murray and Randle. Not a fan of trading Randle at his lowest value, but that’s the risk.

Terrance Ross seems like an inevitable target. I know he’s been mentioned as a target before.

Currently having the worst 3PT shooting year of his career at 30%. One more year after this. Some unlikely bonus incentives.

Makes 12.5 per so the matching is 10.

Just seems like a move this regime would make to get the 8th spot

Noel / Knox / some 2nds for Ross

Idk why ORL would do this  but the salaries work

Kemba IQ
Fournier Ross
RJB Burks
Randle Obi
Mitch Gibson

Meh

Just messing around and I don’t think we could really get anything else better but hey ho.

Knicks get: Christian wood, Eric Gordon

Clipps get: Fournier, future 2nd from us

Rockets get: Bledsoe, Mitch rob, Noel. Future second from clips

Aside from picks i think this is a basis for a deal.
We get out from Fournier and still rebuild but stay competitive

Clipps take on the salary but get a deeper squad and shooter next to kawhi and PG.

Rockets get salary and picks for rebuild

I don't know about that deal but that would be a good place for Ross. He's good friends with Fournier, they vacationed together, so it may help his confidence in having a friend in the locker room. Ross has also said that his wife is good friends with Julius Randle's wife.

Fournier and Ross played together in our best lineup for several years. Both gave each other more space and neither one played well when the other one was injured.

Randle + Knox (or IQ) for Barnes + Haliburton.

Opens up minutes for Obi, gets us a true PG we can pair with RJ + Obi, and clears cap.

As for Sac, they get a stronger 1-2 small-big combo in Fox + Randle. They still have Mitchell for back-up PG duties. They can move Hield back to the starting line-up to provide shooting around Randle/Fox. Maybe we have to throw in a pick or something.

This is a really good trade if the idea was "RJ is the future lets build around him", also for the kings the idea would be get two really talented guys and build around them in the future in Fox and Randle. Though I just don't see either side biting.

For the knicks it's a big risk and they are risk averse. Tyrese looks great but is injury prone. He had a wrist injury in college, then had a season ending injury last season, and then got injured again this season. Also I like Barnes, but he is a mid tier wing about to turn 30. He might have a Shaun Livingston type career where as a bench sub he would thrive.

For the Kings the Randle/Fox pairing isn't great either. Both need the ball in their hand to be effective. You see how Randle will takeover multiple positions in an attempt to iso his defender and drive? That is a bad look next to Fox who is looking to do the exact same thing in the half-court and they are both left-handed. :nonono:

I think Haliburton is untouchable. He is one of the most promising young players of the past 3 drafts.

I thought that too but the rumor is they are open to everyone being traded. This makes me think they take the injury issues seriously. He's had two season-ending injuries one to his wrist and another to his knee back-to-back seasons. Recently it's been back injuries keeping him from playing. They also drafted a third PG in Mitchell. If the kings wanted Randle I think the knicks could get Tyrese and Barnes back no problem. They were ok chasing Ben Simmons who is left-handed too. The issue is would the Knicks take that risk on Tyrese's injuries not defining his career.
