So, Ben Simmons wanted to win a title and he forced a trade to Brooklyn at considerable cost only to see the team dismantled 6 months later.

What's the word for that? Irony? Not quite. Karma? Maybe. Stupidity?

Surprised we haven't heard Boston and Memphis as serious KD contenders. I would think a deal centered around Brown and Robert Williams or around Jackson Jr., Bane and Brooks with a ton of picks would interest Marks. It sounds better to me then the crap offer the Suns and cHeat can put together.

I'm sure this is fairly well known, but Wolves fans are not happy with the trade. 5 players and 4 first round picks, 3 of them unprotected. That's steep.

Celtic fans are thrilled with their trade for Brogdon . . . I remember Knick fans not wanting him due to him being injury prone. He's a good player when healthy.

Anyhoo . . . I love this time of year. Fun to watch the movement.

Can someone explain to me why "can't take this person" is a thing? I keep reading that but I don't understand why it would happen.

Ben is on a designated rookie extension. Teams can only have one such contract at anytime. Donovan Mitchell is also on that kind of contract so they cant be on the same team.

The Designated Rookie rule allows teams to sign players coming off of rookie contracts to a five-year extension rather than the typical four. A team can designate up to two rookies for such contracts, but there's a caveat: only one of them can be acquired by trade

Knick fans weren’t happy with the idea of giving up the 11th pick in a package for him.. the Celtics for him for basically nothing

The Celtics are very likely contemplating exactly that. It makes a ton of sense for both sides. KD/Tatum along with Smart/Horford/ Brogdon looks absolutely formidable and title worthy. Brown is pretty darn good but not the type of player you let the chance at multiple titles pass by:

Smart
Brogdon
Tatum
KD
Horford

with still likely a decent bench left. That line-up in itself is so balanced and good it is hard to imagine any team beating it if they can stay healthy. You have 5 guys that can shoot the 3 and 5 guys that can defend and play team ball.

If I was the Stevens I'd offer Brown + White + 2023 FRP + 2025 FRP and see if the Nets bite. The Celtics may even be able to keep Williams around. Brown is probably one of the best realistic prospects the Nets can hope for at this point.

Its steep but it was necessary. Wolves aren't attracting any stars. They just traded role players + picks to get them to the next level. They get to keep their main core and adding a DPOY in the middle. I'm not sure if its right star but they feel that they have this window to compete.

If not then when? If not, they have to completely rebuild again?

KAT also signed a supermax and the Wolves only trading all those picks for Gobert happens if they can guarantee KAT stays.

Ben is on the move

What kind of value does he hold though ? Missed the entire season and has back issues + a bad contract. Seems like it would cost the Nets assets to move him unless he is bundled with KD

I’m not exactly sure what that deal does for Utah. Obviously it’s incomplete, but I’d have to assume they're getting more than just Ayton. Just seems weird to acquire him on a max deal to join a barren roster. Picture the Jazz roster as it is right now except they had Ayton and not Mitchell…wouldn’t everyone be calling Ayton an obvious trade candidate?

The Nets are gonna get a horrible return for Ben. But if it gets them Donovan Mitchell, they might just make the trade.

Just crazy to think of all the assets they gave up for Harden, to turn him into Ben Simmons, and then to trade him away at a bargain. Simmons has yet to play a minute with the Nets.

Would you accommodate the Nets if we can acquire Ben Simmons without giving up much of value?

Interesting. I would do that I think but it only shrinks the paint even further on offense
