Because the fans are panicking? Donnie could be sitting in a chair, smoking a blunt and laughing his off right now for we all know....

Isn't it all about the fans? Isn't that what a spectator sport is for? Fans panic = front office panic = panic trade.

I pray Donnie keeps his ground.

people should be thanking him for giving NY a chance, the same chance lebron, wade, bosh, etc never gave

If he was really wanting to give NY a chance, he would shut up, play out the season and then sign in the summer. He doesn't have to stones to do it because he's scared he's going to lose his money. That's fine. Some players just don't have what it takes to play in NY. We will find out in the next few days if he has the stones for NY or not. -Jitpal

again, these are just cheap shots directed at the wrong person, its not his fault ny isnt putting together the necessary package

melo exceeded in playing at SYR, hit gamewinner in POs, etc, he can handle the pressure

again, name me one star player in the last decade who gave NY 7 months to get him?

I think Billups would be starting. Felton would be coming off the bench in Denver. That's your "championship contender" with a 1 1/2 year shelf life. -Jitpal

But as far as reading that press conference as anti-Knick, I think the stuff that he said about how he thinks NY is building something great, it's a great sign for us.

Chillax.

i'm not worried. we'll give up chandler & gallo eventually and this will be over.

You guys that are so willing to give up Gallo, Chandler and maybe even Fields need to relax. In Donnie we trust.

Honestly - I feel like Fields is over-rated by this board. I would rather include him then Gallo for sure. Gallo is only getting better and I feel like trading him now is selling low. Definitely no Mozgov and no Gallo in my trade offer.

I like Fields but he could go in the right deal, but even though Gallo is better to me than Fields Id keep Fields cause he can legitimately play the 2, and Gallo and Melo cant.

Gallo's already a better perimeter defender than Fields, getting the tougher matchup every year and Melo's guarded kobe in the playoffs...try again?

Since when?

"If Chauncey is traded, he'd want to be bought out so he could survey the landscape and re-evaluate what he wants to do going forward," agent Andy Miller told ESPN.com.

A source close to Billups has stated that his preferred destination would be Miami. The Heat are capped out, so the veteran guard would have to play for the veteran's minimum. The belief is that he would take a pay cut in order to chase another NBA championship.

That's new jersey...

Sometimes I just don't understand you guys. Instead of envisioning how good we could be, how good we need to be if we could hold on the Gallo, you guys are treating him like he is irrelevant.

Common sense IMO says he is not only is Gallo relevant, but he may be the difference between us being an "Altanta hawks" or being something more, way more.

He may be the difference (if we can use him as trade bait for Paul, Deron, D.Howard) between being a "good team" and being a contender. I just don't get some of you guys here.... WHY THE F SHOULD WE EVER BID AGAINST OURSELVES?

Isn't that what we pay Walsh for? Or do we pay Walsh to just give away talent because the other team makes crazy demands from a position of weakness.

gallo for paul/howard or deron? ROFL, so many teams could be that offer

why would paul come here if his boy melo isnt here?

deron is from the Tex area, and dallas has space in 2012..huge competition

bottome line is one cant talk about a 3rd star without getting the 2nd one first

OK I 100% agree with Pharmcat on this. It's absolutely true that without 2 you can't get to 3.
This is why we need Melo.... AND the resources to get 3 after he comes.

LMAO

We shouldn't be thanking Melo for sh*t. This was his decision, and his choice of how to handle it. If he acted like a man, this wouldn't be an issue. Instead, he chooses to let his handlers play out this circus, and he is trying to force our hand when he has all the power to expedite this process in his favor, but chooses not to use it.

If we don't get him, I won't shed a tear, because it was always his job to get himself here, not ours.

so then why does NY have 4 gms working in the FO?

its the FO job to get the players here.

The four main players on the conference call will be Dolan, the Chairman of Madison Square Garden, as well as Knicks president Donnie Walsh. Nuggets owner Stan Kroenke and Nuggets general manager, Masai Ujiri, will also be on the call.

The call indicates that the Knicks are definitely alive in their bid to acquire Anthony and that a deal can be made if both sides can agree on which players to include in the trade.

The holdup is the Knicks' reluctance to include Danilo Gallinari in the deal. The Nuggets want three starters, including Raymond Felton, a No. 1 pick and Eddy Curry's expiring contract.

The Knicks would get Anthony, Chauncey Billups plus other players to make the deal work under the salary cap guidelines, including Anthony Carter.

We get to keep Fields most likely. DO IT!!!!

Supposedly a conference call between NY and Den to take place today.

Interesting. I am afraid of what Dolan may do. God please don't let him talk. :(

That's what he has to say. He's not going to undermine Denver's negotiations by publicly insisting on NY, it would look horrible especially since he's still under contract.

He somehow thinks that we can give up a king's ransom to please Denver and he's going to come here and be that missing title piece somehow after we gut our roster. He needs to wake to get real, people hate on Lebron, but at least he went to a good team and not the Nets. Lebron is playing on a title contender, Melo will either play for a mediocre Nets team or a decent Knicks team if he thinks we should give what Denver wants. And neither of those teams will be contenders in the near future.

To work on building a team?

Melo basically has all the power of a FA. He could have delivered himself here with one sentence: "I will be a FA this offseason."

Denver's hand would have been forced, and he would be a Knick. Game, set, match. He chose not to.

What makes you think that?

he said he doesn't want to use his leverage to force his way to ny. why ? i think not being a villain like bron has always been in his mind.

I dunno Sham. I think he's pissed with the way Denver has handled this whole thing. They have attempted to force him some place he didn't want to be and have held him up longer then he wanted to be held. I honestly believe he could care less about Denver. If he wins a chip in NYC his jersey will be retired anyway

NY put together a package. Denver didn't like it. I'd like you to name me any star player that gave NY 7 months because Melo sure hasn't. He isn't freely available. If he was, the Knicks would have had him by now. Denver owns his rights. If he was making himself available to NY, he would have forced his way out. None of this "I'll have to look at extending on team X hard" bull. Please, he hasn't given NY anything. -Jitpal
