Are we to believe that Carmelo Anthony actually looked at another player and was disgusted with HIS perceived lack of humility?

No, but he outlined a bunch of reasons why we might not.

I love Lin because Linsanity was fun as hell. He impressed us all and I think he'll be a fine player throughout his career.. but this guy is not a superstar. We've trusted Grunwald all this time and I'm not going to stop now. In this case, he has the right and the ability to evaluate Jeremy Lin and decide that he isn't worth that contract. Especially if he has elaborate plans for the future and is reserving some financial flexibility for the franchise (which could easily become something we wind up praising him for in the future).

He has all-star potential. People say he's a flash in the pan but most guys who average 25 ppg on 50% shooting- even for just a 10-game stretch- turn into great players. Ronald Murry is the exception, not the rule. And even if Lin is not likely to reach all-star level, it's absolutely worth the risk. All we had to do was let Novak walk and we'd be in the same situation financially.

Not to mention...this roster is sick...with or without Lin. The main reasons we are contenders is because of that beastly front line and the fantastic depth we now have at pretty much every position. I don't want to lose Lin but having Kidd for the next 3 years and a still somewhat youthful Felton who I liked a lot while he was here....it more than suffices. As someone said, our championship aspirations are not made or broken with Jeremy Lin or any point guard really. To think that way would be foolish. This team is just not built that way.

No it's not. If Raymond Felton is your third best scorer you're not winning ****.

Guys...lets blame all these **** on Woodson and Grunwald. we should keep things on the down low
instead of telling the world were gonna match any offer Lin got.

Guess who else performed well under D'Antoni:
David Lee
Wilson Chandler
Chris Duhon
Toney Douglas
STAT
RAYMOND FELTON
Landry Fields

Think about some of the names on that list for a mininute.
-Chris Duhon was an All-Star caliber PG the first half of his first season with New York
-Do you remember Landry rookie year under Mike?
-How about how Felton played under him?
-Remember two years ago when Tony Douglas had to start for Billups and played really well?
-David Lee was an All-Star under Mike.

If we don't match Lin's offer we are kind weak on @ the PG position. Kidd is old and Felton is Felton. I doubt he will have the same impact as he did when he was first here. As i mentioned before it will be hard for our team to play well with Kidd and Felton not being on the same page. I don't believe Kidd would be happy backing up Felton.
