I STILL say that Willie Cauley Stein is the better pick than Towns. WCS is a winner and can do things most 7 footers can only dream of.
Tanking again, I suppose. Is there any other way?

On to Nova/St Johns
You mean Auburn / Vandy.

Impressive to say the least.
It's going to be like a Anthony Davis moment, like oh damn he has a shot? Towns time with the DR team and the Bahamas he showed off a whole lot more than he has so far this season.
Listen I get it, Okafor has been putting a hurting on everyone so far. He's doing exactly what he needed to do to become the first overall pick. However with that being said, Okafor isn't a consolation prize in my eyes.
Yup, yup same view.
It is what it is but give me the two-way big man in Towns.
Nice job by Kentucky to hold on though.

Re: College Thread AKA Prospect Watch
The Harrison's are going to be the death of this Kentucky team.
5 consecutive games against quality opponents will be too much for them to overcome.
Sooner or later they will do too much or seek to "put their imprint on the game" when all it takes for them to win the National Championship is to ride shotgun to the best frontcourt we've seen in ages.
If Cal started Ulis and Booker, they'd be even better than they are now.

While I do agree, you would be a fool to overlook the fact that Kentucky only made their run last year due to the brothers. Neither have really developed at all from last year it seems, which is a damn shame. I think both can carve out their own niche in the NBA, but I don't see starters in either of them. Neither have really developed their shot from last year, something you would assume they would've done.

Meanwhile on ESPN, D'Angelo Russell lighting up Pitino Jr. boys to the tune of 23 in the first half.
Always loved that kids game and I'm absolutely sick that he's not in a Tar Heel uniform.
Make that 25 on 10-12 shooting. He's taken 5 3's as well.
The two misses aren't from 3 lol

If he can shoot, that's a really big deal. There are not many big men in this league that can shoot and defend at a high level. Might even make sense for us to sign Monroe (ugh someone shoot me) if we get him. Wait nah, we can sign better players than Monroe.

Lmaoooooo @ the Monroe remark
But yea the reason why I've been so high on Towns & have been closely watching him over other prospects is because of his shooting ability along with his help defense, his blocking instincts & his passing. He can definitely draw players out to defend him rather than just stay in the paint & struggle with his low post game.
His potential is through the roof.

D'Angelo Russell would be great in the Triangle. Too bad we only got 1 pick.

Doesn't have the speed that Wallace had, though Towns can run the break pretty well. He won't pick up petty fouls like Wallace did. Towns will never have the true athleticism that Wallace had in those early years. Towns is a better passing big man even though Wallace had a flair for passing at times. Needs to work on his post offense much like the early Wallace years.
It's not a bad comparison if you're looking for one, but there are some things that can't be overlooked. Wallace will always be one of those what if players, much like a lot of those UNC guys. Towns from all accounts is one of the hardest workers around and strives to become better. Towns is simply going to be bigger, he will become a center in this league. Both have range on their shots, both have a penchant for timing blocks well. Who knows if Towns will be able to anchor a defense, but he's shown that he has some of the characteristics you want an anchor to have.

Except he's not really a two way big man yet. He had 3 consecutive looks down low with good position and did nothing with them.
He's a hustle guy that looks like he has a nice touch from the perimeter and who likes to pass.. **** which really isn't a high priority for a guy his size.

Man he's a souped up Ryan Hollins.
I hope Duke gets to play Kentucky so Jah can abuse both of them long legged scrubs.

Re: College Thread AKA Prospect Watch
Chad Ford's latest big board analysis.
Okafor is one of the most dominant freshman big men I've ever seen. He's absolutely destroying defenses right now. In his past five games, he's averaging 23.2 PPG and 10.4 RPG while shooting a crazy 74 percent from the floor. Okafor now leads all players in the NCAA in PER. While scouts can nitpick about his pedestrian defense, the truth is that players his size with offensive polish come around once in a decade. He might never be Anthony Davis because of his lack of elite athleticism, but he looks like a lock to be a 20-and-10 guy in the NBA someday.

I've been saying this since the season last year. Harris will be here too. And I don't sniff underwear.

edit: reading through this piece was obviously very pro-towns but the points made were valid nonetheless

Watch at Okafor improvementas a pcik&roll defender in a few games, he is going to be a monster, more dominant than Cousins or Marc Gasol.
If you get the 1st pick you dont even give it a thought.

He is more like Bynum, physically, his game is another thing, is Pau Gasol-lite I'd say.
The thing is, he looks like a knee injury waiting to happen.

Re: College Thread AKA Prospect Watch
Been diving in on all the prospects the past few weeks and the more I watch, the number of guys I'd take over Mario Henzoja shrinks. I'd only take Okafor and Towns over him if the draft was today. I dunno why he's ranked somewhat low as of now, but from what I'd seen, he has it all. Great combo of skills and upside.
Has a real nice handle, can really shoot it, freak athlete, great finisher at the rim, seems to be a good passer/playmaker and he possesses great size for a 2 guard. And the thing I liked most about him is that he plays and carries himself with a serious edge. Seems real tough and has that alpha male mindset, which I think is very underrated when judging these prospects. He's not going to back down or be overwhelmed. I love this kid's game and demeanor.
