Why? You trade a potential #3 LHP with legit control issues for a LHP who's currently a #3 with potential to be #2 who's had a slightly freakish injury history. If that's all it cost you, you do it 10 times out of 10

Injury history scares me + he does play in pitchers Park.

I don't see how this is a bad deal for us.

His salary is nothing and is comparable to Sonny Gray's who will be traded any moment now. I say we just upgraded the rotation.

injury history is one thing. However, his splits outside of Safeco aren't terribly different outside of some flukes here and there (not sure why it's 1.00 higher on the road when the stats are fairly similar). He's giving up the same amount of HRs at Safeco than outside of Safeco.

I think there are doubts that Sheff can actually be a mid-rotation starter.

Sheffield has his own injury problems and can’t throw strikes. He’s not major league ready. Paxton is a stud, hopefully he can stay healthy. We need to make win now moves while Judge, Severino, Sanchez, Andujar and Torres are still cheap.

Segura has been great the past couple years. With didi hurt we’re acquiring an infielder whether it’s Machado or not

paxton getting hard seems like a case of bad luck.

pitcher side contact quality is fairly volatile. paxton had extremely good contact quality numbers in 2017. he just seemed to groove about 20 more pitches this year and they got hit hard.

he can also just throw more cutters.

I like the move. Sheffield was far from a sure thing with his control issues.

Not sure on Corbin

Worried about him
Pitching in the NL vs pitchers and big ballparks

How were his #s in the NL hitter friendly parks?

I think this pitching trade spoke mountains. Cashman ain't with giving 10 years on any pitchers on the market.

He will trade prospects, bats for pitching if that's what it takes.

Most he'll offer Corbin will be 4-5 years, take it or leave it. Gotta remember the market can dry up over time and players will have to take lesser deals.

Paxton with that ERA @ Safeco Field, but @ Yankee Stadium, that will go up by 2 runs.
