Wasn't great. He shot 59% on 6.4 attempts as a senior. But it was an improvement from his junior year which was 45% on 6.2 attempts and if he's been working on his shooting this past year I'd expect that percentage to rise.

MitchRob should work on his stamina. It was probably the end of the workout but he wasn't getting the lift I'd hope for from a guy with his size and athleticism in that video. The really great thing about it is... he's new to basketball. He's not used to this level of conditioning which has me INCREDIBLY intrigued about what the future brings for him. I think I read/heard somewhere the only reason he chose to play basketball was because he sprouted from a 6'2" freshman to a 6'11" junior in HS :o

Id say he needs at least 2 years of professional work and natural growth to get his body built to sustain 82 games at Center...

More importantly, he needs to mature as a man first. He will definitely need tough love and personal coaching. As quiet and shy kid who didn't have the same experiences and training other prospects had... he is definitely going to face a difficult transition period this year. The coaching staff needs to get his head right and help him build strong character. Guiding him to make the right decisions off the court, creating a hard work ethic, showing him how to deal with the harsh NY fans and media..

“But how can we get him a confidence that ‘I can go play in the NBA game right now’ because I can hang my hat on this. Right now it’s his athleticism. Getting him to run the floor every time. Getting him to screen at the right angle and to get to the rim with speed every single time. Getting him to be in a stance on every pick-and-roll. Being able to switch on that pick-and-roll and protect the rim. Those little areas, can we make him great at that.”

And Fizdale adds: “He is a fun project. I’ll tell you that.”

Crazy how this guy Fiz just gets it. He's our savior. He even understands he has to make him take advantage at what he's god at first.

He articulates what he's going to do very well. I'm not convinced that Jeff wasn't doing a lot of the same stuff (he had a reputation as a game tape buff from Phoenix) but he certainly wasn't clearly communicating what he was doing with his public comments. I have to think that the communication lapses spilled over to his private dealings with the team as well, causing confusion on what goals were. A lot of players spoke of that. Hard to hold people accountable to unclear goals.

Off the bat, that's something I can easily say for Fiz.

i think jeff was a poor communicator to the players as well. that's the only explanation i can think of for losing the team in PHX when he basically had them turned around. i guess the knicks got his weaknesses as well.

I could go in on Horny all day. Fiz even if its just a tactic to give Frank confidence he said he would of started him last year. Jeff never gave Frank that kind of confidence or approval. All Jeff kept talking about was basically politics in terms of having the vets play/start over rookies.

Totally agree there. Him thinking that weird political stuff was going to somehow help him was absolutely his undoing. He actually did take the Jack Joke too far. Fiz sounds like he'll go merit based as best he can.

Jack got us going, I get it. However Jeff's inability to see how Jack's D was killing us was horrendous. Then he always sat KP when Frank came in and them together was the best 2 man combo in the league I believe. If not the league on the team but the numbers were staggering because Frank always found KP in good positions and Frank and KP led the defense.

Look forward to seeing where he is at amongst the SL competition. This has a chance to be something nice. Fits todays 5 very well.

i am extremely excited about our rooks. more so than anytime i can recall. if mitchell robinson pans out, we bout to be litty. he should be a steal. lakers should have just bit that bullet instead of getting cute thinking he was coming back to 39.

at least it wasn't us holding the bag this time.

Refreshing change isnt it?

Knox I get the same feeling as Devin Booker but at the 3. He has more to his game than what he showed at Kentucky. Mid range curls, post ups, run him off screens like the warriors do with Klay. Pull it off the glass and initiate transition. Really, really happy with that pick.

Mitchell gives me that Whiteside vibe. Whiteside wasnt as coachable early on as Mitchell will be. Havent had a haul like this in awhile. I guess the lakers like that kid Wagner quite a bit that they got. Still doesnt touch this kid Robinsons ceiling.

Jeff wasn’t in the gym with young guys everyday this early in the off season. I’m pretty sure there is a quote where be basically said offseason development is on the players. I think you can even see from the comments of the players that Fitz I doing something very different. Remains to be seen if that difference will be shown on the court.

I know its very popular to rag on Jeff these days and its easy as he did a poor job

but remember how different things were for him

he was brought in to run the triangle for Jackson with a team of Rose, Melo, Noah, etc

he wasn't brought in to be a developmental coach

yes he had KP and Kuz and Chassen Randal but come on, its not like Fiz

he was first a triangle man winning now then he was a tank commander and then it was right back again
he was expected last year to lose and then they were winning and then kp went down and they were expected to tank

it wasn't a very fair situation for him

and he has a hot daughter
