Yeah, I watched a Ewing/Barkley duel on Youtube last night. God, we (and the Sixers around Barkley) put up some trash teams around him. And they were soooooo good. Ewing vs. Rick Mahorn and Mike Gminski was like watching a college player mess around with some high schoolers.
Something that stuck out which I had forgotten - young Ewing was pretty good at hitting cutters. The playbook against him was always to try to get a guard in to help pick off the entry pass because of his bad hands because once he got it and got moving with his drop step it was just a matter of whether he made the shot. Not much the defender could do - especially if he was moving it back to cutters or shooters. I've noticed generally that when players slow down it affects their passing tremendously and Pat was no exception.
