One thing I’ve learned about this game is that things can change suddenly and you have to be willing to adapt. When I make moves my goal is to beat the best. The Mavs and Nets are the standard. My team last season were good enough to survive a game 7 against them. I didn’t see it happening again.

I traded Westbrook almost immediately after the season ended. During the finals (for reasons I won’t disclose out of respect for the GM who has him) I told myself, he would not be here long term. Trading him after he received finals mvp was the perfect time.

I don’t panic. I’m well aware of what’s happening. I study all teams, but am afraid of none. It’s why I believe I’ll repeat. No one really knows the bigger scheme of what I’m thinking. Like am I really after Sabonis? Do I actually like John Wall? It’s why I mostly keep my true thoughts to myself.

At the end of the day, no matter how many moves or re-moves I make this game is about winning. Our players don’t have emotions. On that note, I’ll let my record speak. Never missed the playoffs, consistent #1 offense, and a championship.

Entertaining is the correct word. Hoffa vs. 2010 banter provided some entertainment during an excessively long off-season.

But one thing no one can deny is I've stuck to my plan. I've been adamant about not trading LeBron despite GMs insinuating he is being held hostage and Toronto not being a contender (in hopes of me trading him prematurely).

I've held fort, made small yet productive moves, and improved my team incrementally. When others couldn't see the light of how I could surround LeBron with a supporting cast with limited draft assets and limited cap space.

So although Hoffa has played his games, he's been irrelevant in altering my plans. I've positioned myself to be a contender no matter what he does with his money or his influence over you guys (other GMs) with his profiles.

No matter how things play out, I have a contingency plan and I've stuck to my offseason blueprint. I haven't changed my mind, or lied, or had to resort to misdirection smokescreens even once. I haven't had to cuz I'm not shook NewEra.
