Lol some people will complain about everything. As if Mozgov would've signed with us if the contract wasn't guaranteed. And if we need to get rid of him some team like Orlando would give us the relief.

nobody called him a bust

its just the contract structure that is a head scratcher

See the posts above this one and you'll get your answer. I mean, Johan Petro signed for even more money and Haywood signed like a 6 year $50 million deal so you can see what the price for a decent center was last summer.

those guys have some sort of track record in nba, this guy was a huge question mark

not even the owner from the same country wanted to sign him to his (new) nba team, and to give him multiple guaranteed years was not prudent given the nature of how cap space

He's on a 3-year $9.7-million contract. You guys are making it seem like we signed him at the MLE or something.

These are the same people who bitched about Felton's contract.

Pharm no offense but I think I would trust Walsh's handling of the cap over yours.

Pharmcat's suggested cap management for the record:

Gallo or Chandler, Fields, Randolph (or another's team's first), and another first round pick for 'Melo: YES!

Hill and a 2012 first rounder to create the cap space necessary for two max free agents (not to mention a point guard too): NO!

I might have to agree with you here because you seem intimately familiar with head scratchers.

i have no idea what you are trying to say here....you are mixing multiple, seperate points to make some statement..we are talking bout the guaranteed contract to Moz here....again if he was so good, why didnt the new owner from the same country give him a (multiple year guaranteed) deal?

and the cap mgmt thing, knicks had like close to 25-28 mill w/out jeffries trade, still enough to get amare and felton, and still enough to add a max this OS with curry and jeffries coming off the table....but forget that stuff, its in the past: just moving forward, I believe this team does need melo to complete the 2 max plan donnie has and to maximize the prime career of amare...that is my position

Watching Pharm totally derail this thread is amusing. 2 pages about the Moz signing? Really?

You pull your "arguments" from random places. NJ didn't sign him, because he didn't want to sign with them. Mozgov's agent said as much.

Mozzy's Agent wrote:“No, I didn’t talk to him,” Mozgov’s agent, Bouna Ndiaye, said when asked if Prokhorov had tried to land Mozgov for the Nets. “I really focused on the Knicks. And I did not focus on the Nets because the Nets would take longer to rebuild. I liked Mike D’Antoni’s system better than the Nets.”

Is this some twisted version of "I don't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member"?

Why didn't anyone want Felton?

Why didn't anyone else want Fields?

You only want players who got signed by other teams?

How do you sign anyone that way?

im not trying to derail anything, i do think the guaranteed contracts for 2011 are a pertinent discussion point given the chance of getting melo as FA in OS
