He's a good player.. no doubt. But Lin showed me things the first real chance he got... Dragic took time. Good player but for me he doesn't have the feel for the game that Lin has.

I think Dragic is starter quality...but he has his flaws, his shot is pretty rough, and he never had the dominant run that Lin had.

As far as his production and skills, and the competing level of play, Dragic is a worthy starter. But I think his approach is like an excellent backup. Lin has greatness written all over him. Less smooth and gifted than Dragic, yeah. But it's his approach and feel for the game that set him way apart.

Lin and Dragic are pretty good pg's.

No need to dump on one to boost the other.

Lin compared himself to Dragic as the player whose game he's closest to.

I like them both a lot, actually.

Lin is basically earning the same as Dragic, which is a bit less than market value. Mike Conley and George Hill make that, and they have stats nowhere near what those two are capable of.

I fully agree with ibraheim -- Lin is a winner. Knows how to win games. Dragic is a glorified backup as far as his mentality goes. You can teach what Lin brings.

Sounds like you haven't watched him play at all. There's been multiple games where he saved the Rockets and made clutch plays in the final minutes. He was carrying that mediocre team to what little wins they had in the last two months of the season.

Read this....

This is a real interesting article. Some key defensive rating stats.

Lin on floor 96.7
Lin off floor 99.0

Lin + Anthony + Stoudemire 100.6
Lin + Anthony, no Stoudemire 98.1
Lin + Stoudemire, no Anthony 96.6
Lin, no Anthony or Stoudemire 90.3

Guess this blows up the myth about Lin's inability to play defense. Lin was a net positive in defensive ratings while Melo and STAT were net minuses on D.

Look at Tyson's defensive impact with Melo and STAT. Jaw dropping

With Chandler 100.3
Without Chandler 113.2

One thing i do know, and no stat sheet or blogger can show me......

With a fully healthy Knicks squad the games were blowouts and the starters received plenty of time to rest on the bench, and the bench didn't let up either.

And that was with Amare Melo and Lin playing together.

I've watched Dragic plenty. I'm not a big believer in Dragic but I like his basketball talent. Meaningless wins at the end of the season on a non-playoff team -- you kind of made my case for me. Call that Jamal Crawford Disease -- helping your team to hollow victories.

But I haven't ruled out Dragic really digging in on the Suns. I like him. But we'll see how he does now.

I'd take Lin's future ahead of his. It's not that I don't like him, I just think Lin is special, making the most of somewhat less talent, while Dragic makes less with more talent. We'll see.

Lin's potential is more because he's younger.

Also, you can't really evaluate that Houston team because of all the antics Lowry pulled trying to get McHale fired.

The games weren't any more meaningless than the ones Lin had for us. Rockets were still in the playoff battle when Dragic burned the Lakers in LA. They were still in it before that when he send the Celtics game to OT in Boston.

They were fighting for the playoffs until the last week. So no, you have no case here.

That 6-part story on Lin makes Dolan seem crazier than a bag of hammers.

OK so he had some good games. We'll see. I'm not crapping on him. I just would take Lin, and so did the Rockets -- they are paying Lin more.

But Dragic still has potential. He is older though.

And you know that you love a couple of guys and stay with them through thick & thin -- Dragic and Gallo.

By the way, where's my acknowledgement of winning our informal bet: Lopez earned a lot more on his contract than Gallinari did.

Yeah if anything Dragic's play may have been even more meaningful considering the battle Lowry was having with the coach at the time.

But none the less, both players had a high measure of success, and shouldn't be undermined by one or the other, and both were rewarded financially for it.

Yeah....That was the best stretch the Knicks played in awhile. Of course the Knicks break that up.

Like many things people repeat, once they get an idea in their head they don't want to listen to something more objective like this so I don't think most people will care now that Lin is gone.

Whenever this thing about Lin being a poor defensive player came up, I offered that he is a very position conscious player who is very active on help defense. Of all the Knicks players, Lin may have been the most active on playing off his man to apply double team pressure and he rarely made the mistake of leaving his man open long enough to get beat by missing his assignments.

And as a part of that activity, he was very good at playing the passing lanes and him and Shump were the best at picking up the ball.

Lin is smart. He showed intelligence on defense.

Brezec.. serious question.. tell me about this teletovic guy? Because from what I've seen the guy can flat out play and will contribute from day 1.

Return to New York Knicks
