If the price is right, should the Knicks go after Isaiah Thomas in free agency?
We could finally have a PG who is capable of penetrating, hitting the 3, get to the ft line, all while doing it efficiently. His defense is abysmal, but pairing him with Frank in the backcourt could help. Ive always been someone who preferred multiple playmakers on the floor, so I would start Frank at SG. Both can be very versatile and play off each other. KP at C is also a must since you need a strong defensive unit with Thomas on the team.
Just throwing ideas out there. I feel theres some upside signing him, especially if he can average 24+ PPG on good percentages. We need someone like that with KP.

What's the price you think is "right"?
Because I don't think he comes as a UFA for much less than the MAX

Yep after how bitter he is towards Boston and how he's been treated and compensated for the majority of his career IT is going to cash out (as he should). I don't think we're in the position to give him the max yet. He should be a last piece guy not a guy you get when you still haven't totally figured out the rest of your roster imo.

26 million for 3 years, player option for the 4th.

I'll be surprised if Thomas gets the max.
UFA max players are usually given out to the elite players. The Celtics didnt want to pay Isaiah, which is one of the reasons why they traded him. Thomas wants the max, but it doesnt mean he will get it.

If they'd bark at that.. I'd think about Frank for Kemba. Not saying I'd do it, but I'd think about it if it was straight up.
Kemba kinds of loses all appeal to me unless he's paired with Frank.
I would be open trade our first (with protection) and pretty much anything else outside of KP and Frank though.
Hmm....Kemba is an extremely talented guard who has rotted in Charlotte, he’d be back in his hometown, trading away a first with protection when we’re projected to be a 30ish win team so it would be a good risk....I’m with you I’d be very open to it.

Feel like all parties benefit from this trade. Hornets get a few young intriguing players. Thunder significantly improve their bench with CLee without having to give up too much (and dumping Singler) and the Knicks obviously get Kemba while keeping their main young core together. I think I would throw in the bulls 2nd rounder as well on this.

Thunder wouldn't give us Ferguson for Melo. I have trouble seeing them include him for Lee.

I honestly think CLee puts them over the top. He's absolutely perfect for them in a matchup against the Warriors down the stretch. They should be willing with Ferguson for him IMO.

JaMychal Green is a player I'd kick the tires on, despite his struggles.
A decent stretch 4 that might be available for cheap. Has length and athleticism to bother people on the perimeter.
We need someone like that in the worst way.
I'm wondering where Memphis' head is at this season and if we're going to see a fire sale.

He’d be a good fit, but he’s also closer to 30 then what we are looking for. But I like Green for sure.

Re: 2017/2018 NBA Trade/Wishing Well Thread (Cont.)
So I just want to stir up some discussion. I really enjoy coming up with trade ideas. Here's one:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y7mbqser
Knicks Trade: Courtney Lee, Kyle O'Quinn, Jarrett Jack, Ramon Sessions, Michael Beasley, 2019 2nd Rd Pick (worst of ORL/HOU/CLE)
Knicks Receive: Wesley Matthews, Cole Aldrich, CLE 2018 1st Rd Pick, OKC 2018 1st Rd Pick (via MIN), DAL 2018 2nd Rd Pick, DAL 2019 2nd Rd Pick, MIA 2019 2nd Rd Pick (via MIN)
Timberwolves Trade: Gorgui Dieng, Cole Aldrich, OKC 2018 1st Rd Pick, MIA 2019 2nd Rd Pick
Timberwolves Receive: Courtney Lee, Ramon Sessions, Michael Beasley, 2019 2nd Rd Pick (worst of ORL/HOU/CLE via NYK)
Mavericks Trade: Wesley Matthews, 2018 2nd Rd Pick, 2019 2nd Rd Pick
Mavericks Receive: Gorgui Dieng, Channing Frye
Cavaliers Trade: Channing Frye, 2018 1st Rd Pick
Cavaliers Receive: Kyle O'Quinn, Jarrett Jack
OKAY, so why?
Knicks trade a bunch of assets, actually shed some salary and get a bunch of picks. Unspectacular, but picks nonetheless.
Timberwolves shed Dieng's contract, get a great fit in Lee. I think that's worth a 1st and a 2nd (we give them back what should be a worse 2nd if they insist).
Mavericks shed Matthews and finally get another C who's not bad, albeit a little overpaid. He'd be under contract 1 year longer than Barnes. We get 2 2nds for taking on Matthews and rerouting Dieng to them. Dieng is redundant if he stays with Minny.
Cleveland gets an actual rebounding big (Thompson has been horrible) and another floor general (improvement over Calderon). Their 1st will be somewhere between 26-30 most likely, which is worth shoring up some weaknesses for a championship contender. This is assuming they hang onto the BKN pick and try to trade it in the offseason/during the draft.
Let me know what you think, what changes you'd make if any. Thanks! I'll try and post more trades cause I have tons of them.

Mavs and Wolves day no.
Oquinn , Lee or Kanter good fits on Cleveland. Oquinn and Lee would be great for Thunder also. Sure we can make a trade happen with one of them.

His defense hasn't been that bad. I'd say I'm pleasantly surprised by his effort, despite the occasional boneheaded lapse. But there's no way that Green can come close to matching Beasley's offensive firepower which is really nice to have when KP is on the bench for whatever reason.

Green doesn't give up what he scores, though...and he plays within the offense, unlike Beas who stops everything. Actually wrote about Green when he was still in college as a sleeper for my first blog.
Took him a while to make it, but I'm glad he did.

I doubt we can make a trade with the Thunder. They have no 1st Round picks to trade (until 2022) and it would be hard to match salaries. Any trade would have to start with Ferguson of course.

I never realized how easy you are to persuade.
Beasley 18.2 PER
Green 12.4 PER

Beasley's shooting 53% FGs and has an 18.4 PER coming off the bench. He's a decent rim protected (better than Green) and he's really tried on defense notwithstanding the nightly mental lapse. I have nothing against Green, really. I wanted us to snatch him up when he was tearing it upon the D-League a couple of years ago.
Beasley's game has gravitas.
