Do a damn fake throwing the pass to teammate or throw it with some strength!

Really, turnovers? RJ has a stupid low turnover rate, especially for someone so inexperienced. :-/

But you do have seen some games year?

I do indeed...and RJ's turnovers are one of the last things anyone should be worrying about.

I have; RJ is still inexperienced & so makes mistakes that he won't in the future, but that doesn't mean he's not very smart & careful with the ball...just that he still needs more experience creating for his team-mates with the ball in his hands.

Kid probably won't ever win a ring as a #1 option, but -- assuming his 3ball comes along with another offseason or two -- RJ is going to be an excellent core piece & culture-setter, who could absolutely end up playing 2nd or 3rd fiddle on a title caliber team if we put one around him when he's in his prime.

There really isn't much to worry about with RJ, he just needs time to finish developing.

It's not that I said he's garbage. He is one of the best rookies we took in the last years and doesn't deserve the punishment from ESPN and so called media experts. I hope for the best of this kid. But a fair amount of criticism should be allowed.

Absolutely. I just don't think there's really been much of long-term-concern to criticize with RJ.

Even those handful of games where he got tunnel-vision & started to look like the Maple-Mamba-wannabe that I initially hated as a prospect before he settled in with Duke; aren't a major gripe because they've proven to be the exception rather than the rule and that playmaking has shown itself to be a clear strength of his game that needs to be nurtured as he continues to grow.

In general, the flaws with where he's at now are common for young players and only solved through more experience & more offseason work; both of which require time. So for now, we're in a "wait & see" period with him until we find out if he's going to make that reasonable-to-expect progress or not.

The reality is that this season he's improved his consistency, but marginially. Still, we're in the hunt for the playoffs and hes the clear 2nd option, so that's a big something.
My lifetime better have a Knicks championship.

I get any one who feels that way too. Having home grown stars is always nice. The arrival of Immanuel Quickley makes me more open to a deal like this cause I feel he can be a star. You gotta give something to get something. We’d also still have cap for another star after too..

I hope they don’t lol. RJ is going to be a excellent player that fits any scheme offensively and defensively eventually.

If he learns to shoot consistently absolutely. I can also see his ceiling being capped if he never develops a consistent outside shot

It's also that it's too soon for us to be consolidating assets. We need to continue building up our asset-pool before we even start thinking about spending any of it.

RJ will make us regret trading him if we do. He's going to continue to improve every year and will be a better all-around player than Beal when it's all said and done. They can coexist too so we should hold out if Washington demands RJ.

Here's the thing, you're putting out all these what ifs. This is what's wrong with the Knicks, we never give our players time to develop. RJ is gonna have a respectable jumpshot either by year 3 or 4.

Let me ask you this, if Quickley doesn't make a huge leap his sophomore season, you'd probably be down to trade him away too.

And the cycle continues. No Knicks rookie stays in NY past their first contract. And fans are all for it.

I was typing the same thing before I got distracted lol. It’s won’t be like the melo trade where a few of our outgoing pieces ended up being decent/good pros. Im confident RJ is going to be a high quality impact player. I don’t think he’ll ever put up 30ppg seasons like Beal is but he’ll be just as valuable

But I can also understand the Knicks not wanting to
Be patient. I’d hate to trade the kid tho

I can't. We need to continue adding pieces before we can afford to start spending them on upgrades. We're in a good position to grow naturally for a little bit while accumulating assets, and then taking that big swing to join the big boys. Rushing to cap ourselves as a veteran 2nd round exit team would just be silly.

The time for a big move will come, and it may not be much more than a year away, but this season & summer should be focused on growing what we've got & adding to the pot.
