Remember when OG was looking like Kawhi light for the month Brunson was out, damn near averaging 26ppg? Yeah... seems like a distant memory...

Last post season he unarguably carried us single handedly while his teammates dropped like flies. It's gonna get to anyone's head and it's tough to get out of that mentality especially when your head coach does nothing to negate it and your dad is the assistant coach constantly preaching to him to be aggressive. Brunson is a star but IMO is not a superstar. If he ever gets to that level is yet to be seen.

I’m not going to fight about this, but I’m still simply happy we’ve got this player. Coaching is the actual issue. If not for Bridges, mfers would’ve blown us out of MSG early.
thibs refuses to play 5 out. the stretch he played with brunson-deuce-og-hart-towns would have been better swapping out hart.
i get the loss of rebounding or whatever but try playing 5 out for ONCE. we have not played it AT ALL this series but it shouldn't be surprising considering we haven't played it at all the entire season.
FIRE THIBS
True. Also gotta play Mitch and Towns together.
I saw Brunson, Payne, Deuce, OG, Mitch out there. WTF is that?

There really are only a few that jump off a cliff after every loss and raise a championship banner after every win. The rest of us discuss it like we see it and we aren't the only ones starting to see it. Every article and tabloid is talking about Thibs lack of coaching and Brunsons lack of passing. This is what the forums are about to have a place to discuss not only the positives but the negatives and this team right now has a lot of glaring negatives.

Re: PG: that sucked
I go back and forth with this team but I think it's undeniable the chemistry's off and this group of players doesn't enjoy working together.
It was alarming that the team didn't have KAT's back against Draymond. It revealed a lack of togetherness within the locker room. And I think a couple of players are clearly prioritizing individual achievements over the team. It seems like the trust is broken.
Coaching has little to do with those things at the NBA level, even if Thibs has not had a good season.
This is also why you don't trade 4 first-round picks and pick swaps for a non All-Star, especially when there's no information on how close you are to contention after the loss of Hartenstein. The team could self-destruct within 2 seasons and fall back in the play-in territory or even the lottery in less than 3 years.
We don't have a foundation that's strong enough to weather the worst-case scenario and be a shoo in for the postseason year-in, year-out. It's not at all out of the realm of possibility that a couple top-5 picks convey to Brooklyn in a not so distant future.

this lack of passing stuff is insanity after just 2 playoff games, only 6 PG had more APG then Brunson. It will all even out, he will have games with 8-10 and i think it'll start with game 3, ball has to go to KAT more though. Everyone knew what they were getting with Brunson, they aren't happy now?

Re: PG: that sucked
are laker fans complaining about "the lack of passing" from Luka and Bron thus far? 10APG collectively, Murray? Lillard?Cade?SGA? all guys with less assists per game this playoffs thus far. It will now turn into "APG isn't important" lol.
You want him shooing less? for what??? hart and bridges to shoot more? The amount of shots per game is fine with me, maybe some of the passes to the other guys should be going to KAT and that's fine but your best players should be taking the most shots.

the numbers don't exactly tell the whole story. over 48 minutes, it's hard watching brunson walk the ball up defended, finally get overwhelmed, give the ball to hart just to get it right back and throw up a prayer or do the embiid. when a star player starts attracting more defensive attention they're supposed to use that to get easy shots for other guys, point guard or not (but especially as a point guard). i hate playing armchair psychologist but i think brunson is a little too focused on keeping up his heroic playoff reputation when we got kat specifically so he wouldn't have to do that anymore

I understand your point however the Knicks have a real good record when their team assist numbers are up and a horrible record when they are down. The 15 assists total last game was a season low for this team. This team was constructed to get everyone involved. The starting 5 are all decent passers and have high BBIQ. There is absolutely no reason why the ball should be sticking the way it is.

the part of those tweets that really stand out though is that almost nobody on here wanted him. that is facts. and once we got him they all switched up. even worse, they're mad at the people who didn't.

Don't know if there is a youtube video, but I found a video on reddit that has the highlights for every possession from the 4th quarter.
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1k5alix/highlights_all_the_possessions_in_the_4th_quarter/
We really could have won Game 2. It was 94-94 with 1:15 to go.
When Josh tied it, he was fouled by Duren but the refs did not call it.
Then, who knew Schroder could hit a three off the dribble like that? However, it was Jalen that ended up on him during the switch, our shortest defender with the shortest wingspan. Jalen contested it, but even with the effort, if you're Detroit, you want Jalen to be guarding the guy shooting the ball.
Based on just height and wingspan, Jalen is our weakest link defensively. He is 6'2 with a 6'4 wingspan.
If you have literally any other defender other than Jalen on Schroder, Schroder would be far less likely to hit that shot.
Then at the 0:48 mark, Jalen finds himself shooting a three with Schroder on him after the switch. Schroder has a 6'8 wing span. So of course Schroder will bother the shot. Since Schroder hit a three on Jalen, you have Jalen wanting to do the same to Schroder instead of looking to pass.
Pause the video at the 48.4 second mark. Should Josh have driven to the hoop and do you guys think Jalen could have pulled off a bounce pass from his right?
Jalen took that three with 15 seconds left in the shot clock. Was there a better play to make with Josh?
Moving forward, Mikal grabs the rebound and possession of the ball with 25 seconds to go. We are down three.
14 seconds to go, Mikal gets the shot (from a pass from Jalen) and is fairly open but Malik Beasley is coming at him fast.
OG is WIDE OPEN. Mikal could have faked out Malik and passed it to OG for the very wide open three.
If Mikal and Jalen hit their shots, then these would be non-issues.
Still, these two missed threes and offensive possessions were basically the ones that decided the game.
I feel like there should be more analysis about the last 1:15 of the game.

Yeah it is part of the KAT deal but then you try something to make sure it doesn’t happen. No matter what we say, you don’t know that it’s not a form of negligence to just essentially say Oh well, nothing we can do about it.
That’s what coaching is no?
