Maybe if we were trying to win the summer league title he mightve helped but I prefer the better prospect esp with our hard earned top 3.

The thing that impressed me is not the numbers today. He literally came back for a pointless game and got the rest of our young pups to do the same. I also liked that he was using the summer league moreso to work on his weaknesses more so than to actually showcase his game. Even if he's not all nba, he's definitely a leader. I can't tell ya how extremely grateful I am that we got three as opposed to 1,2,4 or 5. Cuz if we get anything other than 3, our front office probably doesn't draft him.

He looks awkward driving, keeps fumbling the ball with a little bit of pressure and always stops dribbling when he’s trying to break down a defender (ie. no handles). Even in his past two games where’s he’s played well I can’t help but be unimpressed by him on tape.

That kinda reminds me ofwhat they said about this guy....

He like Barret just puts his head down.....and fills up stat lines.

What's crazy is this is not a bad comparison.

We got our 6'5" combo SG/PG type guy last year and it didn't even cost a first rounder.

Not saying this kid isn't decent and a nice pickup, but how is he that much better than Trier?

And if he's better, so what? Trier was a UDFA. I mean, sure, if multiple picks were gotten for #3 - but who's to say he would have been one of them?

So, obviously this player had a much better handle coming into the league, if not a better shooter, but has the Joe Johnson comp been made for Barrett yet?

Plays good defense? Check
Good rebounder? Check
Good vision & passer? Check

That what summer league showed me, yes he changing his hand placement and working on his shot. But most 19 year old players, are doing the same thing.

Kid going to be something special....

I think we have an idea of what RJ will be
This yr
17pts 6rebs 4assts. 42% 31%3pt 62%FT

The beauty is, if it clicks later, those #,s could improve with better shooting

Basically I expect 20% less stats of Randle across the board, maybe he matches exceeds asts

During a timeout the cameras went to Knicks bench and Trier took RJ to the side and said come up slow and give him a crossover and blow by. I swear to you next play RJ did it and scored. Go back to his highlights it happened at the end of the 2nd quarter against the Wizards.

Don't sleep on Trier!! Dude's been an underdog before and relishes it. He's a great 6th man imo. And love this camaraderie

I don't think anyone is sleeping on Trier, i just think some think he could do certain things even better and become an even better player then he's already shown he can be. How can you sleep on a kid that showed in his rookie season after going undrafted that he can get buckets and get to the line.

With all due respect man... if you don't people are doubting i.e. sleeping on Trier then you haven't read some of the comments. And absolutely he can become a better player (he's a 2nd year player) but some on this board have deemed him 'irrelevant and easily replaceable'

I'll tell you because I really liked NAW going into the draft. But I liked RJ better. So much so that I was one of the few who wouldve traded down had the Grizzlied drafted him and left Morant for us.

But NAW isnt really like Trier or at least wasnt. You never know with young players. I've seen guys like Kurt Thomas be the NCAAs leading scorer or something high like that then become a role player in the NBA. I've seen defensive studs with minimal offense then figure out offense and slowly put aside thier defense so you never know. I'm actually surprised by NAW scoring totals in SL. But when you think of nba comparison hed supposed to be alot closer to Avery Bradley or that kid the Sixers traded Mikal Bridges for (name escapes me). Great defensive player, undersized but with arms long enough to cover SFs if necessary whos stuck in between positions on offense. Can handle the ball enough to score where they want but cant run an offense and a bit short for a pure SG.

Trier is actually 6'5, built like a tank and more offensive sink or swim.
