I like what Hurley brings, his teams pass, shoot 3s and rebound well which is perfect for this roster.

I like what Bryant brings, he has the potential to be a long time Knicks head coach if it worked out too. We could be set for the next 20 years if it did.

I like JVG too, defensive minded but not as rigid a thinker like Thibs.

Assuming the Hurley smoke is real which 1 of those 3 would you prefer? I’m kind of split between Bryant and JVG for vastly different reasons.

That's fine but he's a damn good coach. 2 tenures(he only got fired from Nets because they started star phucking). And both times he's had tremendous impacts. I think the Cavs are just mentally soft.

thibs has made tremendous impacts too on teams. we're talking about winning a championship. he had the team with the best record in the east and got 1 win in round 2 with home court.

How about Bryant as head coach and JVG as lead assistant…

We had Kenny Atkinson on our bench before he went to the Nets and had success there and it felt like we f'd up, this is a chance for us not to screw up again.

I don't think we let him go. He went off for another opportunity. Not much you can do if you aren't offering him the HC job.

Touche. I moreso just meant like allowing him to go elsewhere. I think he could've been brought in for Thibs last year. But it's ok he got to learn under Atkinson for a year and now he can come back. :D

Thibs was the bell of the ball. He wasn't going anywhere. He had the locker room eating out his hand. Losing Bryant saw Thibs a step back. Hated that.

The bad part of this for us older Knicks fans is it seemed the Knicks were finally a stable organization with a good culture….no more going through Presidents/GM’s/Coaches….finally felt like a solid run Team …..even if we get a new coach that is successful….which I hope happens….just brings back a bit of PTSD….

I honestly don't know..

I could rank them right now and have a different ranking in 3 hours.

Hurley is a question mark for me but has potential if his college teams are anything to go off of. But does it translate? Who knows.

1. JVG
2. Hurley
3. Bryant

As of right now for me

i do feel that. felt like we were establishing a heat/spurs like atmosphere where we have continuity for a long time. you never know how these things go.

Ok. I have to respect the "inside" information. I don't see Malone as the answer, but maybe????

After G4 vs Boston, I got to walk several blocks chatting up Othella Harrington. At that point, I don’t think anyone thought Thibs had a thing to worry about. The Haliburton shot G1 changed everything.

By the G6 tunnel in Indy, management was already on the defensive to protect their players. Jalen is the untouchable golden boy, obviously, but even he was taking “Mini Melo” hits in the media. Karl’s actual father gave him a massive hug and then Wes, Leon, and Gerson all hugged him. And then the NYT promptly came out with an immediate hit piece. That was all she wrote for Tom IMO.

Just my read, but Thibs had to go for a lot of reasons but mostly it was to deflect blame/pressure/media hate toward KAT. It all happened so quickly, but once we became the favorites to make the Finals, anything less was always going to stir media hate towards KAT/Jalen. Management is protecting its players and rightfully so.

I can look it up, but I predicted Thibs would get fired this year — not because he sucks but because a professional coach’s goal is to survive 5 years with a fat extension. It’s just the normal grind and it’s exciting to see where the franchise goes from here.

Very interesting to hear the informed outsider-inside view.

Dolan said he asked Tom to play the bench more and dude told him no

They were talking about it when they featured Dolan on the "Roommates" show.

Also, there was a report that Dolan made a special trip into the locker room to endorse Huk..which obviously showed that Dolan expects him to play.

That's actually pretty cool.

I agree with Jim. Huk has potential

from what i know bryant is known as a development coach and a guy that players like. i don't know that he's established himself in an way as far as specific defensive or offensive philosophies.

Did you watch the last defensive yelling guy's video? Granted YT videos easy to dismiss but Mikal was taking the wrong route on screens, OG was standing still when he was supposed to be helping to close a gap, right in front of him. It's not just to defend Karl, they should trade him if they think they can upgrade, but the team was not doing certain technique and awareness things. That has to fall on the coach -- at least partly.

there are always mistakes. but i'll take the players and coaches word over a guy on youtube.

It doesn’t mean that’s the only or even main reason why the defense was bad.

Bryant is known as a great communicator who connects with players. Strong on developing players and running a potent offensive system.

holy **** he’s back
