I guarantee that GMs don't go with his current numbers. Everyone knows MD inflates PG numbers.

Flawed premise. They were not.

Kahn called this rumor "over-stated" and the actual offer is probably:

AR + Mason + cash for Telfair + UTA 1st

How were Duhon's #'s inflated last year (7.4/game)?

If they do that deal then we have stoudemire and carmelo making 39-41 million. Chauncey billups cap comes off the books and then I hope for the knicks sake there isn't a hard cap or franchise tag. That would mean no dwight howard, no chris paul or deron williams. Then we have a thirty year old stoudemire and 27-28 year old melo and we don't know what we have after that. I would much rather use the money to get another two solid players. All these srephen a smith, alan hahn, tommy dee. If they do that deal then I am glad they are not the gm. I want carmelo like anyone else, but not that deal

Why dont they grant us permission to talk to him? They worried he will ruin it for them?

I dont like it. Denver gets what they want. Melo gets what he wants. And it costs us the most. We give up our highest valued trade chips here.

If thats how it goes down, then thats how it goes down. But I wont be celebrating a victory until I see our team bumrush the east.

It's a high price but I think it's just about a fair price. Therefore it's as close to a win-win as we've seen.

I would consider taking out Felton or Chandler and putting in another pick. That would be nice. Maybe possible too.

Depends on Melo. I think he's looking forward to playing with Felton too.

But this lineup could be very strong:

Billups - stop gap but savvy / Douglas - may have to play more but could he get more comfortable playmaking?
Fields - perfect facilitator, dirty work guard for this lineup
Melo
Amar'e
Mozgov - Knicks could go to the next level if he can average something like 8 and 8 with 1.5 blocks

And while I don't think that Shawne and Walker can fill the shoes of Chandler and Gallo, I think they are underrated players who can give us some good minutes.

I think that team could give the Bulls *a lot* of trouble first round -- all they can handle or more than they can handle. I'm sure they'd want no part of playing the Knicks first round with that lineup, particularly with how Douglas seems to play against them.

You guys aren't giving up 3 starters to only get 1 back. The way I read it is you guys are giving up 3 starters and getting 2 back right? If you consider a Felton/Billups swap even. Then it is 2 starters for Melo. Which more than likely be Chandler and Gallo. So it isn't three starters for Melo. Its three starters for Melo and Billups right?

Some of you guys are absolutely ridiculous!
If Denver keeps asking for Gallo then make them take Chandler as well. Why? because Chandler won't be here next year!
It won't make any sense to sign Carmelo and then sign Chandler who does the same things and plays the same position...

I'd also hold onto Felton for the simple fact that we can package him to either Utah or NOR next season...

Tommy Dee on the Knicks Blog is saying he thinks the third starter is Fields. That doesn't make much sense to me because they have Affalo. Doesn't make sense to me that they'd want Chandler & Gallo since they play the same position. If you can get them to take Mozgov and we include Kelenna for Birdman that would be the ideal version of this trade proposal for me.
Play time is over.

I agree. To some extent. I am fine if that second starter is Chandler. I won't do the deal if that second starter is Fields or Mozgov.

c? not moz, let him walk

Landry? let him walk

cap: 56-62

so those who constantly talk about cp3, deron, dwight. explain how 2012 is feasible.

yea you just explained it....everyone has to be gone (yes fields, yes gallo), and are left with amare, melo, and just the cap holds

If we sign Carmelo to the extension BYE BYE to Chris Paul and Deron Williams. It's better to keep most of our guys cause we won't have space to sign other guys no matter how much you try to spin it.

?

its already been explained, there is cap space in 2012, and even this coming (about 10 mill) summer depending on how the deal goes

there are options to improve after getting melo

Chandler backs up both Melo and Amar'e. Ideal sixth man because you can always keep one star on the court at all times.

So we give up a 7 footer with great potential and take on a bad contract too? That is horrible.

I don't think this is likely with a 1st. MIN seems to want to keep Brewer, so I think their offer for AR is UTA 1st OR Brewer. Walker is not incentive.

MIN probably does Brewer + a 2nd (not their own -- it's been dealt), but that puts no 1sts in DEN's package.

i am fine with giving up gallo, chandler, curry,AR and a first rounder for billups and anthony. our line up would be sick with

pg billups
sg fields
sf melo
pf stat
c mozzy

thats a title condender in the east.

there is no capspace.

miami signed the big 3 to start at 14.5mil

we wont have enough space to fill out the roster with minimums.
