Obviously there's way more to the story than this, but his Per 36 Minutes aren't THAT bad.

7.5 PTs
9.1 REBs
3.0 BLKs

Everyone knew when he was drafted, he was going to be a project, so at 24 I find it strange that it seems people have given up on him. His offensive basketball instincts are bad and I don't think that will ever change, but he is pretty athletic for a 7'-3" guy. The 15th man on a roster never sees the court anyways...why not take a chance on a guy who could come in a block some shots?

There is no need to dig up random clips, or per 36 min numbers, or talk about his physical profile. Watch him for 5 mins and he just doesn't pass the eye test.

Yea, the one stat per 36 he didn't post is 6.8 fouls per 36 min in his career. Oops, and you can't even use his rookie year as an excuse, because he was just as bad last year.

Yes, now Miami can pick him up so Chandler can abuse him.

Thabeet is the prime reason why per 36 should not be used.

Thabeet is horrible. He's a tree -- tall, immobile, and has no basketball skills.

Can't believe people actually thought he would pan out...lol. RutgersBJJ is 100% right -- "easiest bust to call of all-time."

He can never stay on the court. He is an awkward mess. He needs a ream to really invest the time with him. Most teams dont want to bother.

I think its just become too easy to hate on this kid. Yes he's a project, yes he has sucked, but I also dont think he went to a team that wanted to invest ANYTHING in him. It was a bad situation, much like Darkos when he first came into the league. Get Thabeet on a team where someone is willing to teach him and at the very least he can learn to minimize fouls, block shots and rebonud. The guy can still be a solid back up center imo, if only someone put the time in to help him. I'd say he's worth a look for the knicks, but with Jordan on the team, and no solid bigmen coaches to work with him he'd be better off somewhere else.

That would be Yinka (AKA, "Strinka") Dare. May he rest in peace... :D

Edit: Just saw that Dare was drafted # 14, so yeah, Thabeet is the one to beat.

I actually don't see anything wrong with a minimum contract. That being said, even though he blows he'll actually get a bid because he's still young and massive and at least one cap space team will take him. Any team that takes him at this point would just be checking to see that Memphis and Houston weren't missing something, because it's not that often you don't take a chance on a young guy who is 7'3" even if it most certainly won't turn into anything productive.

This guy does not need to be coached, he needs to have his brain checked.

Used to watch him with the Grizzlies and he made so many borderline ***** mistakes.

Him going to the D-League says enough.

I still can't believe Memphis wasted a draft pick on Thabust.

As others have said, easiest bust to call of all time.

I'd give him a shot and hand him over to Chandler to work with. If anyone can help him reach closer to his potential, it would be Chandler.

If we consider Jorts a PF then we should sign him as the 3rd string Center

Everybody was screaming for Kwame Brown who is a #1Bust and had like a 7pt 7reb season.

That said, I have not seen him play but 7'3 is huge, how bad is he compared to Aaron Gray?
