Then what about Houston? (and sounds like you forgot last year and how he turned the team around) - Houston was supposed to do nothing and is now "solidly" (position wise) in a playoff spot. They beat the Hawks last night, us twice and quite a few good other teams. Not bad at all for a young PG and a new young team. As another poster has said, his numbers are trending upwards (and Feltons downward)...

Does “Potential” get you buckets? How many points per game does potential average? How good is potential on defense?? Again “Potential” doesn’t put up numbers and Does Nothing To Help You Win Now. It’s similar to that player called “Capspace” Sounds good in theory but does nothing to hep you win..

Also the post says (Top 10 PG’s) If you think Lin is a top 10 pg than you need to go sit down somewhere and read a book. Felton’s stats are trending nowhere dood, he’s freakin injured..

Let me guess Lin’s stat are finally “trending” up from 12ppg because he’s finally over his injuries right?? But of course Lin is the only player that struggles do to injury or even gets injured. After all Ray hasn’t been playing banged up at all this season. Ray’s actually playing right now and is 100% healthy, he’s just invisible.

Lastly how hard is it to have your stats trend up when your a starting player on the team with the fastest pace in the league averaging 12ppg 6 assists and shooting 20 some percent from 3?? I mean “up” is the only option, were else is he going to go???

In Dec, Lin averaged 49% FG, 14pts, 84%FT, 3Rec, 6 assists, 1.6stls, 3 TO's and the only really bad mark was 29% 3Pter. I take that over Felton every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The kid is 24. It is potential in action. And as the season goes on it will become more clear.

How many points do you want your starting pg to score? How many attempts? 20?

Ray has been making excuses since he came into the league and I like the guy but am not delirious into thinking he is great or has huge upside.

Lin was listed as no.9 on page 1 in the initial thread. And his stats for a 2nd year pg are more than respectable, he of course could have stayed there or gone down (like Felton has). Feltons Stats for a vet are below average.

Felton takes 2X as many shots as Lin and Lin is on the fastest paced team? Again, how much do you want your starting pg to shoot? What point are you trying to prove? Stat is coming back, hopefully Felton learns to taper that down some.

Actually, Felton was 1-9 after the injury that game. You bring up something that Felton admirers keep leaving out, Brains. (or lack there of). If you are hurt and it affects your shooting, you alter and adjust your game. If you don't, the other team doesn't need to adjust and it hurts your own team. But, unfortunately, Feltons best quality - his talked about Pit Bull nature, is also his biggest detriment. He just has too much pride or is too habituated to adjust his game. Takes things too personal instead of being more cerebral.

And you actually believe he is the 9th best pg in this league?? Must have been one hell of an amazing 14 and 6 “month” ... I don’t overvalue Ray or undervalue Lin, they are both mediocre point guards in this league. Stats and results back this up, and I’m not going to argue with you which DESCENT PG is better, have at it.

A Pg’s job is to execute a coaches game plan, it’s not the 50’s anymore. Derrick Rose’s role in Chicago’s offense is different than Rondo’s in Boston. One is a shoot first point, the other is a pass first, amazingly both players and teams have been successful playing that way. So to answer your question I want my PG’s to win. Woody decides how we get there, not you or me..

Felton takes those shots because he has to. Even with a broken pinky. Teams are leaving him enough space, so he needs to take advantage.

You can't just pass it to melo or JR every time down the court, it will wear them out, someone else has to shoot, too. Also, I'm sick of hearing about Felton's "bad" basketball IQ. Against the Nets the second time, he passed up on open 3 so Kidd could shoot an open 3. Against the Heat with a chance to tie, Lin decides to take a 3 and airballs it.

well, i guess it's safe to say Felton isn't likely to be replaced, and the player comparisons can easily be done in another thread somewhere else.

This thread has officially reached it's course.
