He's not going anywhere because he's solid and the Knicks have a shallow roster and he's done enough.
We've through a lot of garbage and after the first real season we've had in almost 15 years you want to fire the coaching staff?
ARE YOU PEOPLE INSANE?
We need some small changes, yes, but stop this bull you panicking bitches.
And by the way, Prigioni was overused, he cant create anything on offense, he cant get to the rim, he cant hit shots... Cope was okay, but Cope is a huge liability on defense and rebounding.
The roster with all the injuries was pretty awful.
Woody must be related to you cause that mofo was horrible in both playoff series....The team in my mind doesn't respect him, it is obvious to me...and how does Camby not play all series when we needed size? Explain that! He will not be fired because Dolan is Dolan and Woody and Grunwald are ex-teammates, but this was as wack a coaching performance as I have ever seen.
Don't raise your voice, improve your argument

Hard to think players want to play for Woody after they seen what I seen rotation wise...
Melo gonna have to campaign a little....
That slow stubborn goat routine might play in the sticks....I hope NY kills him in the public for his silliness.

Re: Woodson must go
Woodson had a good idea going big as rebounding was a huge issue for us. Unfortunately we don't have bigs that can rebound so well. We need the option of going big at the 4 spot. Martin is nice off the bench but never been a big rebounder, Stat also.
Our roster seemed built only to give Miami trouble, but we need that option to go big against teams like Chicago and Indy.
The coaches that would be an upgrade over Woodson are few and far between. I hope he sticks around and we make the needed roster adjustments.

When putting Amare at low post, he had Kidd do the entry pass whose defender went right at double teaming Amare with no fear to leave Kidd open. That's Woodson.
Doesn't matter, Amare is never passing out of the post--the book is to trap him asap and get him to turn the ball over, which he does at an alarming rate.
oh and lol to that GOD AWFUL JUMP BALL.
He didn't get many chances to tough the ball at all. And this season, his TO rate is rather low. Woodson didn't like surprises and only trust a few plays and wouldn't waste time to prepare for viable alternatives. Yes, JR pulling up jumpers is what he dearly trust. And yes, those 3s in the 3rd were more unexpected accidents.
That jump ball was awful. Cos it's too short, Kidd was not prepared to protect his position against the Pacer who stepped in early and intercepted the 'pass'.

No, you must go. Woodson has done an excellent job with the roster he was given. Did anyone seriously expect a team with Melo, Tyson and scrubs to go anywhere?

OK, yeah, I'm "crazy" to think we have a deep team that won 54 games despite playing through injuries all year and have 11 players that have all been effective for us in the rotation at some point.
Melo
Chandler
Shumpert
Felton
Prigioni
JR
Martin
Kidd
Copeland
Amare
Novak
Plus Camby who we were apparently "saving" for the playoffs,
Go ahead and nitpick Amare and Novak off of here for this series
and act like that's the reason we aren't deep.

Give him one more year. The man has taken us to back to back playoff appearances. That's gotta mean something considering the fact that the last coach to do that was Van Gundy way back.

Both? Who's the other? JR?
I know Woodson could have coached better, but the team is flawed from a contention standpoint, most guys didn't compete for an entire postseason.
Woodson got alot out of this group.
Year JR
I know you're trying to see the glass half full, but I have little to say in defense of the team. I don't give jack about winning the division if they play like dogs the majority of the playoffs. We weren't that good against an old Boston team and we certainly weren't competitive in this series. We're not that good, so I don't really care about the regular season now. It's irrelevant. We're not contenders and at this point that means the silver lining is a hollow thing for someone like myself who has stuck it out for decades. This was a poorly constructed team and it has a bad owner and bad luck. It is just exhausting being a fan of the NY Knicks.
AMEN!!!!!! NY Deserves a better product. Its time to demand better rather than lowering our expectations! DIE DOLAN!!! You will never change this losing culture and prob never sell with the money you're making. That's all a Knick fan can hope for, your funeral!!!!

Re: Woodson must go
I see Woody get a lot of blame here, and yeah there were a few times I hated his rotations as well. But real talk, we made it to Game 6 of the 2nd round with JR SMITH AS OUR 2ND OPTION. Say that sentence a few times.
People saying this season is a failure, yeah ok any season you don't win it all is a failure. But come on, going in to the season pundits & fans had us around #7 and "barely making the playoffs". I think you give Woody another year to see what he can do. Too many times the head coach gets too much of the blame (see Lakers for example).

My opinion: He's not leaving (Dolan values personal crony loyalty over franchise competence, see Isiah Thomas) and he's not winning a ring (see Atl Hawks playoff record and ask Hawks fans about Woodson getting outcoached in playoffs).

Phil Jackson, where are you?
Give him control of EVERYTHING!
Dolan would never give up that much control.
And Phil Jackson is done with coaching. He wants a FO job. He's looking to be a GM or an advisory role as President or VP of Basketball operations or something. His coaching days are over.

Yeah there's been a lot of that in this franchise. Dolan was and likely still is Isiah's love slave. Where exactly Woodson and Grunwald fit into that little horror is probably best left to an E.L. James book. At any rate, I fully expect 1st or second round exits the next 2 seasons and then another failed attempt at building a contender.

Re: Woodson must go
No team in NBA history has won trying to play small ball, why the Knicks chose to play like this all year is baffling. Melo had a career year mainly because he was played at the 4 position which gives him a mismatch vs bigger power forards, but while you do that to make Melo's stats better and to maybe add better 3 pt shooters, you sacrifice defense and rebounding.
Also, Amare could've really helped New York vs Indy, Woodson had no thought of playing his two best players at the same time and that alone should get him fired. The Knicks didn't tie the game up until Amare got some run and the Knicks lineup was bigger, had Woodson put Melo and Smith in with Amare and Chandler the Knicks would've took the game over and we'd be having a game 7. Woodson needs to go!

Re: Woodson must go
A lot of over reaction after a tough loss in here.
It was a great year, especially in the regular season. Gotta hope Woody learns from this post season, those 3's are fools gold and any good defensive team can shut it down.
His rotations baffled me, and I'm still not over the fact he played Pablo 3 minutes in game 4. But he had a good year, our best in a decade. He deserves at least another year.
Over to Grunwald to do some wheeling-and-dealing now.

If you can't get to the playoffs in the east with Melo, JR Smith, Amare, Felton and Chandler you don't need to be coaching at any level.
