My other prediction is that Phil wants to come back the year after this one. He wants to come back in 2015 after signing LeBron.

I feel like we have an identity already. And it's not a player. It's feels stable. I really don't care who's on this team anymore as long as Phil is here.

It's human nature to doubt your leadership if you don't believe they know what their doing. There's nothing wrong with this. Have some perspective.

There's one thing to do it and another thing to admit to your boss.

Woody probably exposed himself in the playoffs last year, and when he came back preaching the same song and dance this year, the players kinda checked out. That's on Woody and Phil needs to know that.

Chris Herring ‏@HerringWSJ 41s
I get that he has the track record of meddling too much, but that would be his right. And Phil would still be completely over the bball side

If Phil came in saying he wanted bball autonomy, Dolan could give him that & still have questions about making other changes. He's the owner

... the medical staff, or over PR stuff, I'd still think Dolan was keeping his word. Really debatable as to whether those are bball issues.

With regards to Phil's answer on Dolan being true to his word, I trust that to be true. But even if Phil and Dolan are negotiating over...

I really like asking this dude questions, by the way. Generally makes what he's saying or getting at quite clear.

Phil, on whether he was serious when Jeanie Buss said he should coach: "Yes. [She said it was] lower risk," than being Knicks president.

I agree with it, but I just don't know if it's right to put that out there in the media...

How so? Carmelo opened this door a few months ago, Phil is just reaffirming that Melo will be asked to take a pay cut as he said he would.

I suppose, I just wouldn't want negotiations made public, if I were Melo, but you are right, Melo was the first to stat this conversation.

PR in a market like NYC does affect on court performance. I consider it a b-ball decision in this market.

Medical staff can definitely have a big impact on your on-court performance. They can be a huge x-factor for you.

Phil says Carmelo talked to him about taking a pay cut to help the club. Hopes that he "is true to his word."

I'm glad somebody said this because that was my whole thing with the MDA saga and I got roasted for it. As a front office, you never like to see a coach ousted because the players give up. Knicks actually did this year (with Woody) what I thought they should have done with D'Antoni. Publicly back him, let him finish out the year and fire him on YOUR terms. Not the players'.

When I saw the team suddenly flip a switch and try for Woody you knew it was coming that they would someday turn on him too. Why not? When the blame will never come down on them.

Yeah - that's just noise.

The Kerr source quote is interesting though.

$19 million to start would be real nice and I think reasonable in terms of being fair to both the Knicks and Anthony. Would only be $3 million less.

The Knicks didn't back the players though. Pringles resigned. So they were always doing what you thought they should have.

This went as good as it can! Either we get Melo at a reasonable price or he can gtfo! Phil knows keeping Melo at $25M is suicide!
