Cavs
Celtics
Knicks
Hawks
Pacers
Raptors
Pistons
Bulls

2-7 will be within 4 games of each other

Because they lost Teague and Horford. Those are two big losses.

Post#82 » by NYKMentality85 » Sat Jul 9, 2016 8:27 am

I've already predicted the Eastern Conference Standings with N.Y winning the Atlantic as an overall two seed. Below I'll list my top 5 player predictions.

1.) Derrick Rose appears to be on the right road to a full recovery (going from 51 to 66 starts over the past two years). I'll predict 72 games started/played from D.Rose here in 2016-2017 with 10 off-night's in order to rest.

2.) Porzingis builds off an outstanding rookie season & improves on both ends of the floor during his up coming 2nd year. As a rookie he averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.9 blocks, & 1.3 assists per game. My predictions as an improved 2nd year player are 18 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.4 blocks & 2.2 assists per game.

3.) Carmelo Anthony becomes rejuvenated within a contending team & has a 2012-2013 type of top 5 MVP campaign. Although a little more efficient. I'm predicting 26 points, 4.8 assists, 7.5 rebounds & 1.5 steals per game (with an efficient FG% of over .475% from the field). Will make his 10th All-Star team as well.

4.) Brandon Jennings embraces his role off the bench, improves his questionable shot selection due to being surrounded by a lot more veteran leaders than what he's ever been surrounded with, improves upon his career FG% & brings us instant offense off the bench with not only scoring but also playmaking ability as a passer. He'll contend with the likes of Jamal Crawford (and possibly J.R Smith) for 6th Man of the Year award.

5.) Joakim Noah not only stays healthy but also regains his 2014 form & plays like an absolute animal on the defensive side of the ball. He'll electrify Madison Square Garden on the defensive end, finish top 3 for DPOY & also make the NBA All-Defensive 1st team (for the 3rd time of his career).

Yes but Teague wasn't playing as much 2nd half he was trade fodder half the season

Schroeder / korver / baze / millsap / Howard is a very good and balanced lineup

I feel people are sleeping on D-12 after playing with Hardens ball dominance, he wasn't getting any touches

in what world Teague is better than Rose, George better than Melo, Young better than KP and Jefferson better than Noah?!

Only Cavs are better than us at the moment... Indiana and Boston had better coaching staff, but with Horny's hire even that is not an edge anymore

4 or 5 sounds about right. They should get to the 2nd round of the playoffs.

I like the roster so far, but even healthy I can't put them as a two seed or title contender.

I'm going with the second seed BUT something is telling me we will be the first seed by a couple games and Cavs second.

In these 2, the real world. Ya'll really need to temper your Rose expectations. He literally may have been the worst starting PG last year, and thats saying something when Calderon is in the league

I love what Noah brings to the table but what if the line-up was :

Howard
KP
Melo
Lee
Rose

Is that line up better if Howard plays motivated and closer to his old self?

Recovering from injury. You should only take his second half into account and even then he didnt have his full rythym.

Aside from Cavs no one in the East would be better IF they were fully healthy ( thats a big if though) .

Most on the GB seem to feel the Knicks will miss the playoffs or be an 8th seed at best...

I think you take 2nd half DRose and improve the efficiency due to improving health, better spacing/system/and better scorers around him . He may not be 2011 Rose but he will resume playing at a star level.

That is monster production for a second year KP. Nowitzki made a huge jump his second year though and his rookie year was nowhere near as good as KPs. But if anyone could pull this off it'd be the 'unicorn'

Love the optimism but Im not giving Melo 26ppg as he has alot of basketball mileage and there are not enough basketballs to go around with all the scorers on the team now. I see 23-24 tops ( but higher efficiency which is more important) higher assists and possibly reduced minutes when we have good leads (which should be more often).

This is a big wild card as it is hard to get guys to suddenly play with higher BBIQ. But in the right environment I think that can help stymie some bad tendancies and we will in fact see not perfect but better play out of Brandon to the point of being an excellent 6th man with good minutes as the back up 1 and in a 2 PG lineup that Hornacek will roll with semi-frequently (as he did in PHX with great success)

This one I am really hoping for because Noah is the epitome of Mr.Intangible. He does all the things a winning team needs except score alot of points. If he were to play that well defensively in addition to what a second year KP will bring on the D side , our interior D may be the best in the NBA next year.

Great post. My responses above in Knick blue font :P

Yea they hate us and I assume that everything that could go wrong, will. I don't blame them for feeling like we're the Murphy's Law team of the NBA though.

This is the best prediction I've seen. Still think the Hawks/Bulls in the 7-9 range though.

Pacers should be better, but #2 seed is a bit high... Raptors-Celtics are appropriately about even (with us as well). Bucks, I like their draft, but that team has some serious bad vibes. Pistons got better no doubt. Hornets took steps back again, so I think they fall out of the playoffs.

IMO:
1) Cavaliers - duh
2) Celtics - got a big time FA, still have a great coach.
3) Raptors - consistency is a good thing.
4) Hawks - good coach, Howard motivated with good spacing around him.
5) Knicks - we have a lot of new pieces, but with Rose-Melo-KP we have a lot of "talent"
6) Pistons - never count out Stan when he has a center (or anyone on the Riley tree)
7) Wizards - Mahinmi is a good center, good depth at other positions. They need a SF to develop, but Wall-Beal can splash on the East.
8) Magic - VERY solid talent. Vuc-Biyombo-Serge-Green-Gordon-Hezonja-Fournier-Augustine-Peyton Coach: Vogel.
____________________________________-
9) Pacers - good talent in PG-Monte. Young and Jefferson are decent players. Teague is playing for money. Just not confident in them.
10) Da Bulls - Wade and Butler will look great together. Rondo is a questionable fit. I could Dragic for Rondo occuring, but for now since the Bulls are a huge gamble everywhere except SF and C, I can't rate them higher.
11) Bucks - Thon, Greek and Parker. Should do SOMETHING interesting
12) Nets - Spent a lotta money, have every reason to try to win. They have that no-tank in them
13) Hornets - everyone else got better, they barely covered their losses.
14) Sixers - They added some things, gotta tinker with the team, but they will no longer look like an active tank.
15) Heat. I think Riley will trade Dragic somewhere before the summer is over. Bosh will sit home and collect checks, Riley will develop some young guys like he did after the Mourning era. Wade will probably do as Mourning and come back after 2 years and play a back up role.

Rose is always injured and always recovering. Bulls fans have been putting their faith in him for the past 5 years and he's disappointed every single year. He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt any more

KP is better than Young, George is better than Melo (whatever small edge Melo might have on offense, George is a 3x All-Defense player including last year), the other two comparisons come down to health.

This thread needed a poll.

Teague - PG is about equal to Rose-Melo these days particularly if you factor in age and health.

Rest of the team, the edge goes to NY.

Vogel is now in ORL along with a lot of proven players who got payed. Biyombo and Serge Ibaka can be on the court together. Think about that with Vogel as the HC.
