The fans will all have way more patience if we finally get a real rebuild

no, they won't. the fans are never patient in NY. but it doesn't matter. the business plan will be what it be.

right. because all nba drafts are equal.

you are right, they can possibly get someone who can't even handle NBA minutes.. At least Brown is logging how many..? Right, 13mpg.

i am right. like i said before, some of you have trouble with context, so I'll spell it out for you. some drafts are better than others.

Melo destination

Post#83 » by Juco24 » Thu Jan 26, 2017 6:25 pm

I think it's now a foregone conclusion that Melo will be traded soon. Personally, I hope he goes to the Cavs and wins a title as I think Melo is/was under appreciated here. So, where do you guys think he'll end up?

If he sinks he sinks. That's no reason to keep Melo around. That's an awful reason matter of fact. Let us find out if we have the real deal or not. And if not we plan accordingly around that

If KP stinks it's not just he stinks... I don't think people understand just how desperate we are for KP not to just be good but, be GREAT

Woj said it. WOJ!

word. doesn't get more reliable. he wouldn't go to bat with it if it didn't come from a good source.

It's consistent with what that Boston mod told us over the summer too. Basically, that he was better faster than they had originally anticipated and the team had a choice to make about the long term direction. Our record made the choice for them. And here we are.

I don't see Cavs/Boston working together in this instance -- could you imagine being the Cavs GM and you get upset by Boston team with Love playing a key role in the playoff upset.

I see this being NY/Cleveland focused deal -- potentially with another team not named Boston/Toronto added to get Cav's comfortable with their return.

I guess it could be NY/Boston direct but I wouldn't mind us getting Love as an asset and being able to move him later this summer if we wanted.

Who exactly is Boston going to sign this offseason? The new CBA will completely limit studs leaving their teams so you're just looking at second and third tier guys, maybe.

Gordon Baeward is their priority. Stevens has the Butler connection as well.

Can't offer as much as Utah and Utah is going to max him out. Gordon isn't giving up 40mm guaranteed.

The new CBA made cap space far less valuable than it used to be. Who are they going to sign this summer who is better than Melo? Hayward? I think that is a bit overstated, simply because Stevens is the coach. He seems pretty happy in Utah and he can get paid way more there. Not only would they have Melo this year, but next, and potentially a few more years after that. To me the issue with the Celtics has always been Melo's seeming unwillingness to go there, not the other way around.

good point. melo is a win-now piece. free agency is going to be harder than ever to dislodge big-time players.

This news probably have Utah front office working up a G-Hayward max-extension right now.

Depends on if he prefers the major market. I don't know if Hayward will leave because Utah loves him + they have a fun young core.

Funny thing is, Melo in Boston is a terrible fit. IT/Melo defensively is awful together. Horford/Bradley/Crowder can't cover for that pair in the playoffs.

whichever team can give us the most value back in return is where he needs to end up...Boston would be ideal

Meh, nows as good of a time as any to see what KP's made of. It's better we find out now then 2 years down the line. If he sinks then we have options. But I don't think that he'll sink, I have a feeling that he'll raise to the occasion.

I mean, the only decent pick any of these teams have is the BKN 2017, and that's a pipe dream. Best case is we send him to the Clips for a bunch of future firsts and it becomes a Nets situation
